4 Ways A Fitbit Can Help You Achieve Your Fitness Goals

4 Ways a fitbit can help you achieve your fitness goals

This post is sponsored by Vocalpoint and Dick’s Sporting Goods ®. All opinions are my own.

It seems like my health is all or nothing. I’m either in the routine of fitness or I’m falling off the fitness wagon. I’ve had fitness seasons where exercising was such a part of my life that it was just like brushing my teeth each day. I even had enough willpower in years past to run a half marathon and also a sprint triathlon. Keep in mind that my goal was to FINISH not to be FAST.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Workout Clothes

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Workout Clothes

I have to start out with a confession. I work at a gym a few hours a week and I have a hard time getting back to the gym to actually work out. The pounds have been creeping back on and stretchy pants have been my wardrobe of choice for about a year now. That needs to change. Not only because I have a lot of amazing clothes that no longer fit, but also because I need to take better care of my health for myself and my family. So if I talk to you about it here, it will make me more accountable to you about starting to do something about it.

One of the first places that you start when getting back into shape is evaluating your workout clothes. It’s a lot more motivating to go to the gym or to workout when you have an outfit you are looking forward to wearing. I chose several different pieces from Dick’s Sporting Goods that I knew could be staples in my fitness wardrobe.

Reason to Consider Trying a Spartan Race

Have you tried a Spartan Race before?

I haven’t tried one yet and I’m considering the challenge to get back in shape. I’ve participated in color runs, mud runs, half marathon and even a sprint triathlon in the past but I’ve gotten out of training mode which is why the Spartan Race might be good motivation.

So what is a Spartan Race?

Here is a little more from the Spartan Race Website.

Spartan Race is a true adventure that anyone can do, and everyone should try. With course lengths of 3+miles (Sprint), 8+miles, (Super) and 12+miles (Beast) each course is filled with mud, water, and signature obstacles designed to help you discover your inner Spartan. Athletes of all fitness levels will enjoy participating in a Spartan Race and the feeling of accomplishment that comes at the finish line.

Spartan Race even has events for kids. We believe that fitness and adventure should involve the whole family. Come out and watch your kids run, jump, and climb like children were meant to do all in their own Spartan Kids race.

For those that want a more team based experience Spartan Race has the Hurricane Heat and for the truly adventurous theHurricane Heat 12 Hour. The Hurricane Heat takes you out of the individual role and has you work with a group of complete strangers to complete tasks designed to bring you together as a team. Those that have done the Hurricane Heat have often done multiple across the country, making friends for life along the way.

Not sure you are ready to run a Spartan Race? It’s ok we have everything you need to get you ready: Spartan SGX training, workouts-of-the-day, nutrition tips to help you eat better, and free workouts held in cities all over the country. Spartan Race is not only the worlds best obstacle race (period), but can be a complete lifestyle overhaul.

So even if you’ve tried a trail race, mud run, obstacle race, or adventure race it’s time to try a Spartan Race. Unlike other obstacle races we offer something for everyone. So sign-up, gear-up and find out why we say…

You’ll know at the finish line.

Tips for your 1st Color Run

Tips for your 1st Color Run

Color Runs are a lot of fun and these tips will help you have an even more awesome 1st time experience.

1. Wear as many articles of clothing that are white or neon as possible

Also, decide if you want to dress in a theme with your friends or family and if given the option to wear a tutu, always wear a tutu.

color run 9.jG

2. Decide if you will be wearing your race t shirt during your run

I personally prefer to keep the t shirt to wear for later. We tend to buy cheap white tank tops for races. It’s also best to pick up your items the day before the race so that you can avoid long lines and don’t have to carry a lot of items back to your vehicle before the race begins.

3. Get a before and after shot

4. Coat your hair and face with color just because you can

5. Bring a ziploc bag or waterproof case if you plan on bringing your phone with you during the race, otherwise you might want to bribe someone to take pictures for you

color run 12

(I used a DryCase for my race)

6. Have a plan of where to meet in case you get separated from each other during the race

I have run a few of these types of races now and we have gotten temporarily separated from our group a few times. It’s good to have a plan in place or your race experience will not be as fun.

7. If you have sensitive eyes, wear sunglasses to keep the color out of your eyes

Color Run

8. Pack extra clothes

There is a good chance that you might not want to ride home covered head to toe in colored chalk.

9. Bring garbage bags or towels to cover your car seats

color run 11

Trust me, you don’t want you car to be covered in colored dust. Baby wipes are also really helpful to remove the chalk.

10. Remember that no cares whether you choose to run, jog, slog (slow jog) or walk during your race- Fun Runs are a judgement free zone

color run 10

11. Celebrate in the color tosses at the end of the race!

Remember that a fun run is just that..FUN! So don’t take it too seriously. If you wanted a serious competitive race, you should have signed up for one. Just enjoy making memories by running through a rainbow of color.

12. Wash your shoes and clothes as soon as you get home

My tanks tops always keep some of the color but my shoes and shorts have always had the color come out pretty easily.

If you find these tips helpful, please share them with your friends or family. I also have tips for your 1st Mud Run and 1st Glow Run.
