Why it took me so long to try a Spin Class Cover

“I’m soooo sorry, Are you ok?,”- that’s what the old lady in my hydrorider class said to me after she accidently dropped her 55lb bike on my head as I was helping her get it into the water. I was fine but had to hold an icepack on the side of my face for the whole duration of the water “spin” class.

We had joined our gym a few years ago and it took me the longest time to even try a group class. I always thought the women that attended those were genetically superimposed with the DNA of superheros. I was so intimidated to stare at myself in front of a mirror with a bunch of other women doing exercises or dance moves that looked ridiculous.

Taking an Aerial Silks Class

That’s the easiest way for me to describe taking an aerial silks class. I had wanted to try an aerial silks/hoops class ever since trying trapeze. It was a little more expensive so I requested it as a birthday gift from my dad.

Fencing Class Adventure

“My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die.”

So my fencing classes didn’t begin with my instructor saying anything that noble sounding to start our first class. Up until then, my fencing skills had been limited to light saber fights with the boys while multi tasking housework.

Every time I have seen that fight scene in “The Princess Bride” I always thought it would be cool to have those skills, but in my line of work, they aren’t really needed on an everyday basis.

So when my friend asked if I would be interested in taking fencing lessons with her, I thought,”why not?”

What it's like to try the trapeze

I have always had some kind of bucket list growing up. Not necessarily always written down, but it seems the more I try something outside my comfort zone, the more I want to add something new to my “to do” adventure list.  So far, one my favorite bucket list items was trying the trapeze. We had noticed a trapeze rig at one of the popular tourist spots in town. After I saw it, I knew I had to try it.
