Color Run 5k on the racetrack at Kentucky Speedway Cover

Ever wonder what it’s like to run thru a rainbow of colors at night?

A few friends joined me for the Color Fun Fest 5K at the Kentucky Speedway to find out what that experience would be like.

The Color Fun Fest 5K is unique because it’s one of the few color races where you can choose to run during the day OR at night.

I was really excited about the race because our group would be running at night and it was also the first time a color race had ever been on a NASCAR race track.

Our experience started by lining up to sign a waiver before entering the tunnel that took us to the infield.

It’s not everyday that you get to drive near the track.

We observed a few of the daytime runners while we were checking in.

After each race, runners can participate in the Color Toss where you can add even more color to your experience.

We opted for the evening run so that we could run in the dark AND glow in the dark.

Running on a race track was a truly unique experience. You don’t realize how steep of a grade a racetrack is until you run on one.  After a while, we chose to run where the track was more flat.

We also made several stops to play in the color.

It was so fun watching the runners light up on the dark track.

After we finished our race, we enjoyed a few final blasts of color from the main stage.

I liked that this race had options for both the daytime or evening which gave more flexibility for the runners and their families.
