Our family has been fortunate to be able to try ziplining at several places all over the United States. I was really impressed by our visit to Foxfire Mountain Adventure Park.
I loved all of the thoughtful details that took the experience to the next level.
When you arrive on the property, you will notice several themed buildings along with areas to sit down and just relax.
The bathrooms look extremely rustic on the outside but you will be pleasantly surprised when you go inside.

Prepare to Walk Across the Bridge to Prosperity
Foxfire Mountain Adventure Park has America’s Longest Swinging Bridge.
Before you walk across the swinging bridge, you can learn more about the property inside the Foxfire Mountain Museum.
You can also write down a personal wish for health, wealth, and prosperity to attach to the Whispering Winds Covered Bridge on the other side.
The Bridge to Prosperity takes you 335 ft across Foxfire Gorge.
There are loaner hiking sticks available to take over before you cross the bridge to use on the waterfall trail if you need them, which was another nice touch.
If you really like the hiking sticks afterward, you can purchase one at the Base Camp gift shop.
As you cross the swinging bridge, make sure that you stop in the middle for a great group selfie.
Walk Cross America’s Longest Swinging Bridge
Once you cross the bridge, you have a lot of options to choose from. You can walk through the trees on the Walking Tree Canopy Tour in the Evergreen Grotto.
After we walked the canopy, we attached our wishes to the covered bridge and rang the bell.

Hike to the Waterfall Trail
Next, we made our way to see the waterfall.
Taking the trail to “Lost Mine Falls” is totally worth it!
The waterfall trail makes a loop but I would recommend starting on the loop path to the right because you see the waterfall sooner.
You have a nice hike complete with a waterfall! I also loved the nearby hammocks to rest on.
Back by the swinging bridge, you can also take the lower nature trail called “River Walk Trail” that has nice scenery along Dunn’s Creek.
Our family enjoyed challenging each other on the obstacle course in “Lava Valley.”
Several of the challenges gradually become more difficult. If you step in the lava (red path) you need to start again. When your family is extremely competitive, the rules are very important.

The animals are also close by with an observation platform in the field.
On your way back, don’t forget to stack some stones and build your very own cairn for good luck before you cross back over the bridge.
When you cross back over the swinging bridge, you might notice the Wishing Well that supports three great charities.
Once again, I loved another thoughtful detail by Foxfire Mountain that will help change lives for the better.

Zipline at Foxfire Adventure Park
If you want a more extreme ziplining adventure during your visit, you will want to book the tour that includes the “Goliath” that takes you 475 feet above Dunn’s Creek, which is the highest zipline in the Smokies.
The boys and I enjoyed taking the Scenic Canopy tour that offers two sky bridges and 7 ziplines with an opportunity to zipline over a waterfall 250 feet in the air!
I recommend starting off the platform backward so that you can see the waterfall as you pass over it.
The scenery is really beautiful on this zipline tour and our guides Tim and Patrick did a great job of providing a safe and fun environment for our group.
There is one other adventure offered at Foxfire Mountain Park called the “Bear Crawler Adventure” that takes you on an extreme 8- wheeled drive ATV in water and off-road trails. We didn’t try it during our visit, but we did try the ATV tour during another visit.
*Children must be 3 years old, be able to sit by themselves, and be buckled in a seat belt. Children 12 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.
*Discover Foxfire is included FREE with any other adventure! If you are taking any of the zip tours or bear crawler adventures, this is included at no additional cost.
The adventure park also has an observation tower and rock climbing wall and will be adding a Cider Mill over the summer. I love cider so that is yet another incentive to want to come back. We really enjoyed our visit to Foxfire Mountain Adventure Park. The attention to detail and excellence really set them apart.
