Firehouse Subs

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to join several local bloggers to hear from Firehouse Subs Co-founder, Robin Sorensen. This resturaunt was founded by former firemen who are brothers.

I was not familar with the national chain before but I’m definitely excited to go back. Firehouse Subs was started by fireman. They have a love of quality food, a passion for excellent customer service and a heart to give back.

Robin (pictured on the far right) shared his passion for finding the best meats and cheeses for his subs.

You know someone is passionate about meat when they can describe the selection process similar to how a wine conessiour describes a fine glass of wine.  They got to great lengths to find the best ingredients to all their subs and you really can taste the difference.

They are the only national chain to offer the Coca Cola Freestyle machine.

They are also the only chain to have their own cherry limeade…. but why stop there. You can create 120 + different drink combinations.

But getting a drink is only half the fun. You still get to eat a delicious sub.

First off, here are a few things that you should know about how Firehouse Subs approaches making subs differently.

-They use 4 ounces of meat instead of 2 ounces.

-They have only used high quality meats since day one.

We sampled several subs during our visit.

Hook and Ladder Sub- Smoked turkey breast, Virginia honey ham, and melted Monterey Jack served Fully Loaded  (complete with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a dill spear on the side.)

New York Steamer Sub- Corned beef brisket, pastrami, melted provolone, mustard, mayo, Italian dressing.

Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket – USDA choice beef brisket smoked for 10 + hours, melted cheddar, special sauces.

Those are just a few of the great speciality subs. I think it was too hard to pick a favorite. They were all really good.

Another element that I LOVED about Firehouse Subs is their dedication to give back. Here is a little information about their foundation from their website.

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, with the goal to provide funding, life-saving equipment, disaster assistance and educational opportunities for first responders and public safety organizations.

I had just toured the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, that specializes in care for burn victims earlier that afternoon. I was so excited to share with Robin that the hospital is seeing less patients because of the education that organizations like his are giving to the community.

You can add $.25 to your Hook and Ladder Combo the founders will match it.

Another creative way that customers can give to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is by purchasing a pickle bucket for $2. It’s such a resourceful way to create less waste to help fund the foundation.

Disclosure: I was given a complimentary meal for review and giftcards for giveaway purposes. All opinions are my own.

I’ve been given (3) $10 giftcards to giveaway to readers.

  4. I have been to Firehouse – it’s now my favorite sub place! That steamer is the best!

  5. My sister told me about Firehouse Subs and I was excited to find out that they served REAL Pastrami (not turkey pastrami) my husband is allergic to turkey, and since he’s moved to Ohio from Maine we have only found REAL Pastrami 2x!
We went for lunch one Saturday and was pleasantly surprised at how good the sandwiches were! (The pop machines were awesome as well! I only filled mine up half way so I could try different combo’s!)

  6. I’ve never been to Firehouse Subs and would LOVE to try the premium roast beef hot sub!

  7. I’ve never been there but the Hook & Ladder sub sounds delicious. The drinks sound fun too.
