Have you tried a Segway tour before?
My husband and I had a brief mallcop experience riding segways at a mall in Grand Rapids that left us wanting to take our inner nerd to the streets.
A Riverfront tour with Segway of Cincinnati gave us the perfect opportunity to explore our city like tourists.
Our tour started with demonstrations of how to use the equipment at Segway Showroom located at the corner of Vine Street and East Central Parkway.
Our guide made sure that each rider felt comfortable on the Segway. After we could show that we could do a few basic skills we were allowed to ride the nearby sidewalks while we waited for everyone else to become familiar with their equipment. Our Segway tour did require us to wear a bright orange vest and helmet for safety purposes.
Our tour started on the sidewalks downtown and our guide told us about points of interest along the way.
We traveled the former canal route down to the river. Our tour guide allowed us to test our segway skills in a parking lot after he shared with us about the history of the nearby buildings. The tour gives a lot of history and insight into what Cincinnati was like during bygone eras.
Our tour took us on the city sidewalks and allowed us to take in views of buildings that we had passed by many times without realizing how incredible they really were. During our Segway tour, I noticed details of buildings that I passed by all the time for the 1st time.
We passed by Lytle Park and learned about the history of the Taft family and the Lincoln statue.
This Lincoln Statue is one of only two statues of Lincoln in the world that shows him without his beard and top hat.
Our guide took us across the Purple People Bridge, which is a popular pedestrian bridge connecting Cincinnati to Newport, Kentucky.
The group was able to take a stop and take pictures and take in views of the Ohio River with views of both Ohio and Kentucky.
The tour also connected to Friendship Park and then to Sawyer Point.
After Sawyer Point, we connected to the newest addition to the Cincinnati parks system.
We traveled from Sawyer Point to The Banks Riverfront.
On our way back to the showroom, my husband’s Segway had an issue where it was no longer working but our guide was quick to try to find a solution. He got a little more exercise on the way back and the employees offered another tour to make up for the inconvenience.
Overall, we had a great time on our Segway tour. They are sooo much fun to ride, our tour guide was really informative and fun. This tour helps you appreciate how beautiful our city is and I would recommend it for tourists and locals alike.
