ACC Hall of Champions in Greensboro

Things to Do in Greensboro, North Carolina

We stopped in Greensboro, North Carolina for two nights, as part of our road trip through North Carolina.

Greensboro is about 7 hours from Cincinnati and offers so much to do!

Greensboro Science Center

Science Made FUN at Greensboro Science Center

4301 Lawndale Dr, Greensboro, NC

I would highly recommend allowing enough time to spend the WHOLE entire day if possible.

The Greensboro Science Center is filled with activities and adventures for ages young and old.  One location hosts a museum, aquarium, and zoo!

Seriously, there is SO MUCH to see here!

dining options at Greensboro Science Center

If you get hungry during your visit, you will find plenty of options at the Meerkat Cafe.  Our family enjoyed the pizza, pressed sandwiches and kids meals.

Behind the Scenes at Inside Tracks: Zoo Trek

During our visit, our family took the Zoo Trek. The tour gave us behind the scenes access to the animals at the zoo.

We learned more about the diet and food prep inside the food commissary. It was really interesting to learn about the types of enrichment activities the zoo provides to enhance the quality of life of its residents.

We were able to ask the zookeeper lots of questions and learn more about animal conservation. The bad weather during our visit actually worked in our favor.

Because of the rain, we got to see the indoor areas where the animals rest that are not accessible to the public.

Our tour also got to help feed several of the animals while under the supervision of the ZooKeeper.

It was such a special experience and a perfect adventure for any animal lover.

The course will also give you more confidence as you go through a series of obstacles in the air. Many of the elements even incorporate an animal theme.

I found that many of the obstacles were challenging in a good way. The harnesses also worked well after I slipped on one of the log elements.

High Ropes Courses are such a great way to model facing your fears and overcoming challenges with your kids.

We really enjoyed the elements on this course.

The staff was really encouraging and did a great job of guiding us when we approached the tough portions of the course.

Downtown Greensboro NC

Discover Downtown and LeBauer Park

208 N Davie St, Greensboro, NC

The First Friday of each month Greensboro has additional activities and events centered around art and community.

During our Friday night visit, we got to listen to a community drum circle at a local downtown park. There were shops and galleries that were also open with extended hours.

LeBauer Park is a fun spot for kids to burn off some energy. The park is only a few streets away from lots of great shops and restaurants downtown.

Painted Jeans Statues in Greensboro NC

Look for the Painted Jeans Statues

In my city of Cincinnati in we have flying pig statues. Greensboro, North Carolina has painted jeans statues with unique designs throughout the city.

The statues are a tribute to the denim industry where two denim companies call Greensboro home.

Great Places to Eat in Greensboro

During our visit, we were able to enjoy several great locally sourced meals in Greensboro. Come hungry because you are going to eat very well!

breakfast at Smith Street Diner in Greensboro NC

Breakfast at Smith Street Diner

438 Battleground Ave, Greensboro, NC

Home of one of the largest biscuits that I’ve ever seen!  Smith Street Diner is one of those places that you need to get to early or you will be waiting in a line outside the door.

The diner is small with a big heart as you are greeted by loyal employees who have worked there for years.

The portions are VERY generous!

You’ll find country-style, scratch-made breakfast, served all day, “8 days a week.”

breakfast at Print Works Bistro in NC

Dine at Print Works Bistro

702 Green Valley Rd, Greensboro, NC

Conveniently located onsite where we were staying, Print Works Bistro is another wonderful option day or night.  The restaurant has lots of seating, especially if you eat breakfast early, and a beautiful ambiance paired with fantastic food.

A few of my MUST TRY recommendations are the Housemade Cinnamon Rolls served with a warm caramel sauce and the Corned Beef Hash that is hand-carved corned beef with sautéed peppers, onions, bistro potatoes, topped with fried eggs.

tacos at Crafted: Art of Taco in Greensboro NC

Dinner at Crafted: Art of Taco

220 S Elm St, Greensboro, NC

We are ALWAYS in the mood for tacos! We get even more excited when a restaurant is highly recommended and has the line out the door to prove it.

The Pimento Mac n’ cheese is a game-changer!  Your hardest part will be narrowing down the taco menu options!

I opted for the “FIXIE” made with Braised beef, grilled pineapple, spicy sweet chili sauce and coconut aioli, cilantro and scallions.

Another taco that I tried was the “OXFORD.”  It was made with Chipotle marinated chicken, guac spread, red cabbage, pineapple-jalapeno relish, chipotle-lime sour cream, crumbled queso, and cilantro.

The FIXIE was my favorite of the two. The waitress also brought me some house hot sauce for the pimento Mac n’ cheese that made it even better!

Sarah's Kabob Shop in Greensboro NC

Mediterranean Cuisine at Sarah’s Kabob Shop

5340 W Market St, Greensboro, NC

I found this gem after some online research. Sarah’s Kabob Shop has wonderful Mediterranean food served in LARGE portions for a great price.

I ordered the Shawarma over rice. It was made with mixed meats served with grilled onions, peppers, and tomatoes, over rice with salad and pita and my husband ordered the gyro.

Make sure that you also save room to try their incredible Baklava.

Cheesecakes by

Stop for a Sweet Treat

315 S Elm St, Greensboro, NC

We added a visit to Cheesecakes by Alex after several reader recommendations. There were sooo many fantastic options to choose from.

I did try one sample and then ended up ordering a slice of creme brulee style to split and an Oreo one for the boys to share.

If you are not a fan of cheesecake, you will still find plenty of pastry items to choose from to satisfy your sweet tooth.

What’s On My List For Next Time

Our time in Greensboro FLEW BY and definitely gave me so many reasons to want to go back!

Here are a few places on my list for next time.

The International Civil Rights Center and Museum

134 S Elm St, Greensboro, NC

Located inside a building that was the site of a non-violent protest that contributed to the momentum of the Civil Rights movement from four brave men who sat down to eat at the “whites only” lunch counter.

Greensboro Children’s Museum

220 N Church St, Greensboro, NC

Fun for kids of all ages inside and out with the museum’s newest outdoor addition, two European-imported 30-foot-tall Neptune XXL Climbers connected by a 25-foot suspended net tunnel, that even looks fun for adults.

Suspended Art

Located at LeBauer City Park downtown, we saw the space where the suspended art was located but unfortunately, it wasn’t up for our visit which gives us another reason to want to come back.

Greensboro Grasshoppers Baseball Game

408 Bellemeade St, Greensboro, NC

We were scheduled to attend a baseball game during our visit but it was canceled due to a rainout.  The Greensboro Grasshoppers are a Class A affiliate of the Miami Marlins and games are very family-friendly.

Thanks again to Visit Greensboro for hosting our visit. You can find more information on their website to help you plan your next visit.
