Kentucky is known around the world for their bourbon, but there is still so much more to discover in the Bluegrass State in addition to what you find along the Bourbon Trail.
Cincinnati offers incredible museums throughout the city, but there is one museum in the city that tends to be known more by tourists than locals. That underrated museum is the American Sign Museum. The American Sign Museum provides education and celebrates the art of sign making. As a local, I was immediately mad at myself for not visiting the museum sooner! It truly is a unique gem that is very special to our city.
I discovered Oldenburg, Indiana on a whim. My boys and I were traveling back from Indy and my curiosity won. Known as the Village of the Spires, Oldenburg’s German heritage and charm makes it a great daytrip getaway located about an hour from Cincinnati.
I had the opportunity to take the “Beyond the Bricks” tour presented by the guides for the Society for the Preservation of Music Hall. While the building is under construction with renovations, you have the opportunity to learn to appreciate the fine points of the building like never before. The “Beyond the Bricks’ tour takes you on a 90 minute outdoor tour around Cincinnati Music Hall that will open your eyes to important details that can so be easily overlooked.
I love finding unique experiences and places. When I found out that Sleeping Bear Retreat in French Lick, Indiana had tepees to sleep in, I was really excited to share this adventure with my family.
Mammoth Cave National Park has the longest underground cave system in the world. It has been a popular tourist destination since 1816.
Cincinnati has so much history and as a native to the area, it can be easy to take that history for granted. I’ve really enjoyed taking various tours around the city because it’s opened my eyes to all of the details that I’ve overlooked as a local.
I’ve been wanting to check out the Newport Ducks Tours for quite a while. My husband and I went on one several years ago in the Atlanta area and we knew that our boys would love it. We enjoy learning about other cities but also like to take advantage of tours in our own backyard.
