Put-in-Bay has a lot of great restaurant options. With so many decisions, it can be hard to choose.
I got to visit several restaurants during a visit to Put-in-Bay earlier this summer. It seems only fair that I would pass along the places that I loved and what I ordered.
1st Stop- Lunch at The Goat Soup & Whiskey
located at 820 Catawba Avenue.
They are known for their perch tacos, a relaxed atmosphere, quality food and an affordable menu.
There is a reason you trust the locals. Their perch tacos were AMAZING! The perch was flavorful and crisp. I don’t order fish tacos a lot but I’m so glad I went with their recommendation. Their strawberry basil mojito was also the perfect blend of summer in a glass.
2nd Meal – Dinner at The Boardwalk
located at 341 Bayview Ave.
We ate at the “Upper Deck” restaurant at The Boardwalk which is located upper level right on the water with a large table side service dining area that is both indoors and outside.
They specialize in seafood. I once again opted for what they are famous for which is their Lobster bisque that is made with Maine lobsters.
The lobster bisque was really good and was also really filling which made it so that I couldn’t finish my delicious spicy scallop entree.
3rd Stop- Old Forge Cafe & Creperie
located at 451 Catawba Ave.
This former blacksmith shop is located downtown and the inside has lots of details that compliment it’s former business. Old Forge also has a cool sign that says “OH CREPE!”
They have a diverse menu with entrees that are great for lunch or dinner but they are known for their crepes that range from sweet to savory.
I took the advice of another person at our table and tried both because it was such a tough decision! I ordered the Cinnamon and Sugar crepe with almonds and one of the savory crepes. They were both delicious. Next time I will definitely try the Nutella crepe.
4th Stop- The Keyes
located at 227 Bayview Ave.
This restaurant offers great views of the water and Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial along with a relaxed atmosphere inspired by the popular Florida destination.
I ordered a Key Lime Cooler and the Sweet Heat Chicken (Fire Braised Pulled chicken topped with swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, guacamole, and their sweet heat habenero sauce served with sweet potato fries.
The chicken had a good kick to it and the guacamole was a nice addition. The sweet potato fries were my favorite. I’ve had sweet potato fries at a lot of restaurants over the years but these were some of the BEST sweet potato fries that I’ve ever had!

Hi Susan- Sorry you had a bad experience with some of the menu items. I absolutely loved the perch tacos. Glad we both agree on The Old Forge. I’ll have to add those other two suggestions of yours to my list of places to try next time.
Been to 3 out of the four places noted here. Fish tacos were NOT tasty at all. The Lobster Bisque was awful!! The Old Forge was WONDERFUL!!! Great addition to the island. Cameo Pizza is THE BOMB (and they’re open until 2am most nights). Also, Put-In-Bay Brewing has GREAT wings.

I live in Ohio, and have never been to Put-in-Bay…now I want to visit, just so I can eat there!
