What is Goat Yoga?
Goat yoga is yoga with goats.
Goat yoga is led by a certified yoga instructor who leads the class through various yoga poses while playful baby goats roam the class.
Who Founded Goat Yoga?
The Original Goat Yoga was founded by Lainey Morse on a farm in Oregon in 2016.
The new trend has continued to grow in popularity around the US because it’s such a pleasant experience.
What Are the Benefits of Goat Yoga?
Goat yoga can help reduce your stress levels, blood pressure, cholesterol, feelings of loneliness and improve your physical health, mental health, and even your immune system!
If you’re going through a difficult period, therapy goats are a great way to cheer you up. I dare you to try to go through a class without smiling.
What’s the Point of Goat Yoga?
It’s just fun! Goat yoga is a fun way to mix up your yoga sessions. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that you won’t forget!
Goat yoga is also known as caprine vinyasa.
What Should You Expect For Your First Goat Yoga Class?
The fun experience is WAY more laid back than a regular yoga class. The yoga goats are the real stars of the show and have a VERY short attention span.
Goat yoga class participants also tend to have short attention spans when the adorable baby goats stop by to make new friends with them.
You’ll notice that people who attend classes are from all walks of life. There’s no need to feel like you need to be advanced yogis before trying the class.
A lot of people are more excited about meeting their new furry friends than trying a specific pose.
Your yoga teacher will still do their best to attempt to lead everyone in poses on the quest for more inner peace as the mayhem with the goats unfolds.
The friendly animals do what they want… when they want which makes the whole experience comical.
Wherever they go is typically for a brief amount of time which makes it so exciting when you see one of the gentle creatures coming your way.
Be prepared to have a smile on your face the whole entire class because you’re going to have a lot of fun.
There’s even a good chance that a little goat could walk on top of your back during the class or try to nibble on your hair.
If you wear clothing with a zipper or string there is also a good chance that a goat may try to nibble at it.
If you don’t have a chance to take pictures during your class, you’ll typically have plenty of time to take pictures with the friendly animals toward the end of class.
Where Do Goat Yoga Classes Take Place?
Goat yoga classes can take place outside on green grass in the fresh air or at indoor venues or studios.
What Happens If a Goat Poops During Class?
There is a good chance that goats will poop during your class. They are farm animals after all.
The good news is that their poop is in the form of small pellets and staff are very quick to remove it and sanitize the area.
This is also why I say to pack extra clothes…just in case.
What Types of Goats Are Used in Goat Yoga?
Nigerian dwarf goats and pygmy goats are most commonly used in goat yoga classes. Many of the goats come from small farms.
