Art Prize is one of my favorite annual events that takes place in Grand Rapids, Michigan. For 19 days each fall, Art Prize draws artists from around the world, working in any type of medium, to compete in an independently organized international art competition. When you visit Art Prize, you are faced with lots of incredible art to view in every direction. I’m sharing tips to help you get the most out of your first Art Prize experience.
Charlottesville, Virginia is a destination that has been on my radar for a while thanks to Brigitte Belanger-Warner. I met Bri at at travel conference a few years ago and she keeps on giving me more reasons to want to come and visit.
I invited her to share more about the Charlottesville area because I wanted you to hear a perspective from someone who lives in the area, who still loves and believes in the local community. I believe that there are more positive stories that need to be told as this city’s narrative continues to move forward.
Mackinac Island is one of my favorite places to visit in Northern Michigan. The island is extremely popular in the summer but there are some advantages to visiting in the fall.
I had the opportunity to spend a few days exploring Rutherford County, North Carolina. The area has southern hospitality and gorgeous mountain views at every turn.
Our 7 day RV adventure had a wonderful combination of urban/ocean/mountains. Urban in Pittsburgh, Annapolis, and Washington DC, the Ocean in Ocean City, Maryland and Mountains during the last leg of our journey in Laurel Highlands, Pennsylvania. My husband and I had previously skied at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in the winter and we were looking forward to returning for additional adventures in warmer temperatures.
A visit to see the Biltmore Estate was on my list for years and I was really excited when we were invited to experience what the Biltmore offered for families during a weekend stay. The Biltmore also happened to be the last destination that my mom was able to visit before she died. She absolutely LOVED her visit there and her face would light up when she would talk about it. I knew that I wanted to experience and get a sense of why it was such a special experience for her.
Zoombezi Bay is a waterpark located next to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium that is definitely worth checking out. What’s even better is that your admission to Zoombezi Bay gives you access to the Columbus Zoo during the day of your visit.
Sliding Rock is a 60 foot natural waterslide located within the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina that is fun for all ages.
I LOVE street art. It inspires and challenges me to dream bigger and brighter. It sparks creativity, provokes me and renews a sense of wonder. I’m surrounded by 101+ murals of great street art in various forms throughout Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky neighborhoods. When I found out that Miami had an arts district dedicated to Urban Graffiti art, I was all in. I did an little online research and the images of the murals at Wynwood Art District made my heart skip a beat.
