Have you ever wanted to be a Guinness World Record holder? We are and you are can be one too!
Here is your chance! You can participate in the World’s Largest Swim Lesson on Tuesday, June 18th at 11 am.
Here is a little more from the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson website:
The nation’s top water safety and training organizations are joining forces to presentThe World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ (WLSL), Tuesday, June 18, 2013, to build awareness about the vital importance of teaching children to swim to help prevent drowning. On June 18th, waterparks, pools and other aquatic facilities around the globe will host local WLSL lessons simultaneously at 11am ET (3pm GMT) in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record.
Swimming is a life-saving skill for children and a vital tool to prevent drowning, the second leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for children ages 1-14. Research shows if a child doesn’t learn to swim by the third grade, they likely never will. The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ was created to serve as a platform to help local community aquatic facilities and the many different national, regional and state wide water safety and drowning prevention organizations work together to tell this important story on a local and national level.
If you are in the Cincinnati area, I encourage you to take your lesson at Silverlake Family Recreational Center.
Silverlake has a lot of great programs for families with sports, fitness, education, camps, and an AMAZING outdoor water park!
You do not have to be a member to participate. Families that are non members can also swim for an hour after their lesson in the indoor pool.
Ages 6 months and up can participate.
If you are not local to the Cincinnati area, you can find a local participating pool here.
Disclosure: I am an employee of Silverlake but have loved their facility and was an avid member before becoming employed there.
