WICKED is a Broadway Musical that appeals to all ages and a bucket list worthy Broadway play.
1. EVERYONE that I know who has seen the broadway play has LOVED it!!!
Seriously, I have yet to meet someone who didn’t enjoy this play.
So what’s the musical about?
Based on the best-selling 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire, WICKED, winner of 50 major awards, including a Grammy® and three Tony Awards, is the untold story of the witches of Oz. It is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone.
Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the Land of Oz. One – born with emerald-green skin – is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, and how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.
2. WICKED weaves together elements of the Wizard of OZ to give you the background of the story.
I did not read the books and the play really helped me answer so many questions that I never really thought about before. The play really gives you insight and the backstory into the why behind the characters and the significant moments that shaped them. I don’t want to give away too many secrets from the plot because I really enjoyed having those “aha” moments during WICKED as the story progresses.
3. You gain a new understanding and empathy for Elphaba
Elphaba was so misunderstood. You really gain an empathy for her character as the story unfolds especially when you learn more about her history and what she experienced. The why is so critical to the story. You will see an unlikely friendship develop between Glinda and Elphaba and also see a softer side of Elphaba with an unlikely romance.
4. If you’ve seen WICKED before, you will fall in love with the show all over again and if it’s your first time, you will understand what all of the buzz is about.
The vocals by the actresses who play Glinda and Elphaba were absolutely beautiful!!!! Their range and stamina was incredible and I see why so many people who have seen WICKED love the soundtrack!

Dear Nedra,
I like your blog about Wicked. I love that play. I like the pictures on your blog. I watched the play before.
Hi Nedra,
I enjoyed reading your blog on Wicked. Wicked is a wonderful musical. Which character do you believe changes the most over the course of the musical? I believe that Galinda changes the most during the musical (into Glinda, as well as her beliefs changing). Everyone in the musical changes with the exception of perhaps the Wizard. Elphaba and Fiyero change because of each other, and because of Glinda. The most impressive change is Glinda’s though because she started as self-centered and by the end of the musical, she has become a person who causes others to love. Love is the most powerful reason for a person to change, and Glinda finds that in her friendship with Elphaba. Do you agree?
