I just got back from an incredible trip to Orlando sponsored by Visit Orlando and Allegiant Travel. Our trip was during Mother’s Day weekend. The weather was perfect and the lines were short which is why the month of May is a great time to visit because you beat the summer crowds.
We arrived in Orlando around 1:30 pm and had the challenge of trying to cram in 7 Theme Parks in 2.5 days! We were up for the challenge.
Airline
We flew out of the Cincinnati/ Northern Kentucky International Airport and the check-in process with Allegiant was quick and the customer service was friendly. Allegiant Air provides affordable travel with direct flights to popular destinations all over the US.
Rental Vehicle
We started by picking up our rental for the weekend from National Car Rental. Our vehicle during our stay was a Hyundai Sonata which provided lots of leg room and trunk space for all of our luggage.
Sea World
SeaWorld was the first theme park that we visited during our stay. We were looking forward to seeing the dolphins and the killer whales.
Highlights– “Antartica: Empire of the Penguin” ride where you can see penguins without glass in front of them, “Dolphin Cove” where you can touch dolphins, “One Ocean” Shamu show, and the thrill ride “Manta” where you go head first.
Where We Stayed
During our trip, we stayed at Tuscana Resort. Our condo had lots of space and tv s in each room. We also had a full kitchen and access to a beautiful pool.
Legoland
On Saturday, we arrived at LEGOLAND as soon as they opened. My boys were in heaven! They create with LEGO bricks all the time.
Highlights– Incredible “Miniland” display, hands-on area to build at “Imagination Zone”, “LEGO STAR WARS” display, “Ford Driving School” and “Project X” thrill ride.
Aquatica
Next, we went to visit Aquatica. This is a waterpark that is located across the street from SeaWorld.
Highlights– “Dolphin Plunge” where you water slide in a tube near Commerson’s dolphins, sand near the lounge area by the wave pools and LOTS of fun water slides for all thrill levels.
Magic Kingdom
That evening we went to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. It really did feel magical! We used our MagicBands which had the information for our park tickets and our Fast Passes.
Highlights– The rides “Big Thunder Mountain Railroad” and “Space Mountain”, “Electric Parade” at night, and pictures with the “Cinderella Castle”.
On Sunday we had a strategy to fit as many Disney theme parks as possible.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
We started our day with Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Highlights– “Expedition Everest- Legend of the Forbidden Mountain” roller coaster, “Kilimanjaro Safaris” , and “Finding Nemo- The Musical Show.”
Epcot
Next, we went to Epcot.
Highlights– Eating sushi in the country of Japan, and beautiful flowers and cultures on display from around the world.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Our FastPasses were set for the afternoon at Disney’s Hollywood Studios which worked out perfectly for the rides on our list.
Highlights– “The Twighlight Zone Tower of Terror”, “Star Tours- The Adventure Continues” simulator ride, “Rock n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith”, and “Fantasmic” firework and water show.
We decided to head back over to Magic Kingdom for our last chance to ride “Space Mountain” one more time before going home the following day.
We had such a great time in Orlando!
My husband wasn’t able to make this trip but we had such a great time in Orlando that I know we’ll be back. There are soooo many options for things to do in Orlando that the hardest part is deciding what you want to do.
