I’m excited to announce my partnership with the Cincinnati USA Regional Tourism Network. I am one of six local bloggers that will be participating in the Livin’ in the Cin program.
Our kick off event gave us the VIP treatment with a behind the scenes tour of the new Africa Exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botantical Garden. Our first animal introduction was a Ball Python named Teether.
All of us eventually took the photo opp. We bonded by handling snakes. Next, we got to go to the elephant’s pen. It was a very surreal moment to be able to walk up to the elephants and pet them. They were so sweet and peaceful.
It was incredible to be so close up to such an amazing animal!
Next, we got to visit and feed the giraffes from ground level.
It gives you such a different perspective when you are standing right next to giraffes. I loved getting to see the babies.
Our final destination was the construction site of the third phase of “Africa” that will be open to the public on June 29th, 2013.
There will be a heated rock for the lions to rest on, a fake tree that can dispenses treats for the lions next to the viewing window, and there will also be a rope that will come out of the hole in the tree that will allow visitors to interact by playing tug of war with the lions.
There is also a little cove for younger guest to view the lions from. There will be two scheduled lion chats a day.
This area will be an animal meet and greet section that will have animal demos all day, everyday.
The surrounding area is extra cushiony for kids to play and climb.
The back deck of the Base Camp Cafe will offer great views of the newest exhibits that also offers a large outdoor fire pit and is located next to the new cheetah exhibit.
