Even if you are too young to remember the movie, there is a good chance that you have heard the classic songs from the 1983 film Flashdance. I was really excited about seeing this play.
As a child who grew up in the 80’s, I knew that Flashdance – The Musical would be a fun show with lots of great dance numbers. I also recently went to Pittsburgh for the first time over the summer and I fell in love with the city and it’s hard working roots and grit, which is where the story takes place.
“With electrifying dance at its core, FLASHDANCE – THE MUSICAL tells the inspiring and unforgettable story of Alex Owens, a Pittsburgh steel mill welder by day and a bar dancer by night with dreams of one day becoming a professional performer. When romance with her steel mill boss threatens to complicate her ambitions, Alex learns the meaning of love and its power to fuel the pursuit of her dream.”
Flashdance movie fans will love watching the dance numbers to favorites from the movie soundtrack. You will hear the songs “Flashdance- What a Feeling,” “Manhunt,” “I Love Rock & Roll,” “Gloria,” and “Maniac” along with 16 new songs written for the stage.
( Kelly Felthous as Gloria, DeQuina Moore as Kiki, Jo Ann Cunningham as Hannah)
The support cast did a fantastic job and Jillian Mueller who played Alex, demonstrated INCREDIBLE stamina during her singing and dance numbers.
(Kelly Felthous as Gloria and David R Gordon as Jimmy)
Flashdance – The Musical is perfect for a girls night out or a date night. I’ve been singing the songs ever since I saw the show and now have the urge to try some dance classes again.
