A few weeks ago, my family joined the Food Hussy’s family at the “Savor the Season” farm to table event at Gorman Farm. My family had never been to Gorman Farm before.

“Gorman Heritage Farm is a 122-acre working farm and outdoor education center, which invites its visitors to explore and learn the history, methods and values of a working family farm in a natural setting. The Farm consists of 30 tillable acres, a farmyard with a variety of animals, a garden, 40 acres of wooded hillside, and a natural pond.”

We started our visit by checking out a few vendors like Slow Food Cincinnati and Grailville, who shared the interest of becoming more green and eating more natural and local.

After the vendors, we decided to explore the farm a bit. We started at the Children’s Garden.

There were lots of areas in the Children’s garden to play and explore.

The event also featured several cooking demonstrations and a “chopped” style competition.

We visited the “chopped” style competition first for a few minutes and then went back over to the cooking demonstration by chef, Jose Salazar.

Being an audience member definitely had perks! The event also had a food truck with great grilled cheese and vendor with a portable brick oven for pizzas.

After a bite to eat, we headed up the trail to see the rest of the farm.

Our exploration also took us to the barn area where we got a wagon ride from mules and visited the farm animals.

Gorman Farm has rental beds available for people who want to experience gardening side by side with other gardeners.

There is also an information area that shares about the history of the farm and sells meat and other local foods.
