One of the adventures that I took forward to each summer is a day on the river. I’ve been going to Morgan’s Canoe and Outdoor Adventures in Brookville, Indiana since high school.
Rent Canoes, Kayaks, or Rafts at Morgan’s Canoe
You can choose your own adventure on the river depending on your flotation of choice.
Last time we spent the night in a cabin and then went on a rafting trip down the river. This time we decided to try the kayak rentals at Morgan’s. When given the option I prefer renting a kayak over a canoe any day.
I was looking forward to a little faster pace and a built-in backrest for comfort.
My older son and I each got a single kayak and my husband and younger son rode in a double.
We were really glad that we decided not to let my 8-year-old try a kayak of his own. He definitely wasn’t ready. It was pretty entertaining to watch my older son navigate his way independently.
There are plenty of areas to stop along the river if you want to get out and swim for a bit. Your trip down the river can be as fast or as slow as you want it to be.
One of my favorite parts of our trip was discovering a herd of cows by the water.
The water during the trip was only about 6 feet deep at its highest points.
The rapids on the Whitewater River are a Class 1 which are easy to navigate and a lot of fun. If you are wearing sunglasses you either need a strap or I’d suggest wearing an old pair that you don’t mind losing.
Look For the Signs
Toward the end of your trip on the river you will see signs for Morgan’s Canoe. You definitely don’t want to end up paddling farther than you planned to.
Our family had a great time making memories on the river that day. It was nice to spend a relaxing day outdoors.
