On a recent weekend adventure in Lexington, Kentucky, I was told that I needed to check out an incredible restaurant that had a giant jellyfish tank.
Giant is an understatement! Coba Cocina has the world’s largest private jellyfish aquarium.
The inside of the restaurant has a very modern feel with creative elements throughout.
The cuisine is actually inspired from travels of the owners all over the Americas. You will taste the influences of Texas and the Baja Coast, South America and Mexico, along with Latin American, Spanish, Maya and Aztec traditions.
We started with chips and salsa which had a great flavor. We also loved the black bean dip which reminded us of our favorite Salvadorian restaurant in Dallas.
The kids menu is extremely affordable with $5 kids meals that also double as a mask. Kids can also get gelato for $1.
Kids and adults can also take a peek at the workers making tortillas.
Their salsa has it’s own passport. I opted for seriously spicy “Molcajete.” I love spicy food and this had a great flavor.
I ordered the brisket tacos (slow-roasted beef brisket, sliced poblano peppers and sautéed onions. Choice of corn or flour tortilla. Served with ensalada avocado and cilantro rice)
My husband ordered the Yucatan plate ( two beef or chicken burritos, topped with chile con queso, lettuce and tomato, refried pinto beans and mexican rice)
Our family really enjoyed our meals. We were a bit sad that we didn’t have any room left for dessert. I’m sure those are amazing too.
My kids told me that before we left that I had to check out the restrooms because of the fun circle tiles that change as you walk on them.
We really enjoyed out visit. Coba Cocina has a really cool atmosphere, great food, and affordable prices.

I’m so glad you get the concept of this restaurant. I’ve only been there once (going again this week, however) and I just loved it. HUGE tequila selection and excellent fish tacos. It’s not a Mexican restaurant and all the negative reviews I see seem to come from those who expected another lame, run-of-the-mill Tex-Mex place with bland food, etc.
Great review and pictures 🙂
I have many family members in Kentucky, mostly in Cynthiana and Paris! I will absolutely share this with them, and next time I visit KY, I will have to eat there!!!!! I hope you will check out my blog!
I had never heard of this place until I saw it on your Facebook feed, now I can’t wait to try it! Looks incredible!
