Newport Aquarium has an adventure waiting for you at the very end of your visit.
Guests have the option to walk across the world’s first and only Shark Bridge.
4 miles of rope form the only rope suspension bridge in North America where guests can walk above nearly two dozen sharks.
There is another net underneath the shark bridge to help protect the animals from any accidental items that could potentially fall in from guests above.
The Shark Bridge attraction is included in the price of admission. This adventure is something that the whole family can enjoy but walking across the bridge is optional for all guests.
My younger son was a little hesitant to walk across Shark Bridge in the beginning. (No more shark week for him!)
After he witnessed my older son and I walk safely across he had the confidence to walk back and forth over it many times.
This V-shaped suspension bridge is 75 ft long and gives a slight movement as you walk which adds to the excitement. The bridge is very easy to walk across and gives you a unique perspective of the 385-gallon tank below.
An exciting addition to the tank is the largest group of scalloped hammerhead sharks. These sharks are smaller in size right now but can grow up to 14 ft long. (They move fast so have your camera ready)
The Newport Aquarium has more scalloped hammerhead sharks on display than any location in North America and it’s estimated that less than 20 institutions have them in the whole world.
My boys always enjoy watching all of the activity that unfolds while they are in the tunnel.
This is definitely a unique adventure to add to your bucket list.
