When given the option for adventure, I typically go for adventure. That’s why I was really excited when one of the Roadtrippers employees offered to give my friend and I a tour of the building where our travel writer meet up was held that evening.
Roadtrippers is a great travel resource for finding destinations and attractions that you will want to add to your trip. They even have an app! So definitely get the app if you don’t have it already!
The adventure part came in when she shared that we could tour the lager tunnels located under the building. The Roadtrippers building is the location of the former Crown Brewery that was in operation pre prohibition. The “Revival” mural on the side of the building is a tribute to that history.
The tunnels helped keep the beer cool and made it easier to transport between locations. There are lots of lager tunnels located in Cincinnati because of it’s rich brewery heritage.
The tunnel takes you under McMicken Street and ends with stairs that are not for public use.
It was wild to walk in a tunnel located directly under the street where I parked my vehicle.
I loved the opportunity to check out the tunnels.
You can visit the lager tunnels on a tour with Cincinnati Brewery Tours. You can read about my experience on their Prohibition Resistance tour here.
You can find out more about Roadtrippers from their website.
So cool!!! I’m feeling claustrophobic just looking at your pictures though!
Interesting! Sounds like an app I need to check out!
creeeepy! I don’t think I could do it. But it’s amazing all of the interesting things we have under the surface in Cincinnati!
