The Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky offers a lot for families to do around the holidays.
Each year, Christmas at the Galt continues to grow with additional activities offered for families.
Let’s start with the Dancing Bellman.
Each evening at 5pm the bellman show off their dancing skills in the SUITE lobby.
These are bellman by trade, who go through an intensive training with a choreographer 2 months prior that also helped several of the dancers shred some pounds as a result.
You will find Christmas cheer at every turn and along with carolers singing throughout the hotel from time to time.
For meals you have several options.
During our visit, we attended the Pam Tillis & Friends: A Kentucky Christmas Dinner Show that featured live performances by Pam Tillis along with several talented musicians and dancers.
You might remember her or her father Mel Tillis who have both enjoyed successful careers in country music.
Other holiday themed meal options available are Christmas Tea with the Snow Fairy Princess, Breakfast with Santa and Dickens Dinner.
There are 6 full service restaurants and lounges located in the Galt House Hotel that offer something for every dining budget.
For a fantastic meal with a rotating view, I would recommend the RIVUE Restaurant & Lounge located on the 25th floor.
The Galt House Hotel offers FREE pictures with Santa as a gift to the community. Cameras are encouraged and you will also receive a free picture with Santa that can be emailed to you as well.
There are additional printed options available at an additional fee.
One of the incredible features at Christmas at the Galt is the luminary show KaLightoscope: A Christmas Carol Experience.
There are 270 hand made silk luminaries created by artists from Zigong, China.
The closer you get to the luminaries, the more you can appreciate the detail and craftsmanship.
Younger kids will enjoy lots of holiday activities with admission at Christmas at the Galt.
Your wristband is good for the whole day which can allow you to leave and come back if you have a younger family.
Make sure that you check out the room with all of the Gingerbread House Contest Entries.
The detail and design skills are incredible!
Tickets for Christmas at the Galt House include *NEW* Winter WonderLane, A Christmas Carol Lighted Luminaries, English Village, Snow Fairy Princess, Peppermint Express Kiddie Train, Green Screen Video Experience, Holly Jolly Holiday Review (Elf Show), Gingerbread Houses Exhibits and Interactive Games and Exhibits.

If you stay at the Galt House, you are a short walking distance from 4th Street Live.
There are several popular restaurants and bars nearby along with an ice skating rink and little shops.
You are also walking distance to the Louisville Slugger Museum and the Frazier History Museum that each have special exhibits for the holidays.
There are a few points of interest at the hotel that you don’t want to miss.
Two are in the Conservatory that connect the two towers.
I have walked that path dozens of times and I had no idea that there was a swim up bar.
By a swim up bar, I mean that the fish do all of the swimming. Al J’s at the Conservatory is a unique place to enjoy a drink as you watch the fish swim in a 30 ft aquarium tropical fish bar.
Make sure that you also notice the birds who are located at the conservatory and in the main lobby.
If you enjoy bourbon, you will find a large selection of over 150 varieties of Kentucky Bourbons to chose from at Jockey Silk Bourbon Bar located inside the hotel.
I recommend trying a few so that you can discover your favorite Distillery.
The Galt House Hotel offers a great location and lots of fun for creating your holiday memories.

Thanks to Kentucky Tourism, Visit Louisville and the Galt Hotel for hosting my visit.
Yeah, they “donated” all their decorations last year and no longer do anything festive whatsoever for Christmas. It’s a ver sad looking, empty scene compared to what used to be there. They no longer decorate or anything. A real shame
It was a wonderful article! Thanks for sharing all the beautiful pics from your visit to Galt House. Just thought I would warn others if they came across the article while searching for Christmas activities in Louisville, as I did. Happy New Year to you and thanks for the reply!
I wrote the article in 2015 and it sounds like they no longer offer as many activities as they did during my visit.
Visited Galt House on Christmas Eve looking forward to the sights and activities described here only to find that they apparently don’t do any of that anymore. They had a nice tree in the lobby and a few decorative holiday touches but that was it. I asked if there were any other decorations to look at and was told “No, other than a few things on the 3rd floor”. They did have an event for the kiddies on 4 specific evenings for 2 hours each time with a holiday movie and snacks but that was it for activities. Disappointing….
What a beautiful place to visit especially during the holiday season!
