Spring is such a beautiful time to see spring flowers in Cincinnati. You’ll find that the trees and flowers are in different stages of blooming from late March through May.
I’m sharing some of my favorite places to take pictures of flowers in the spring that you’ll want to add to your list.
Smale Park
166 W Mehring Way, Cincinnati, OH
Located along the Ohio River, Smale Park is a great park to start your flower adventure.
There is a parking garage across the street from the park.
If you’re feeling extra ambitious you can park for free at the Friendship International Park lot and walk along the river through the connecting parks from Sawyer Point Park, Yeatman’s Cove to Smale.
It’s a nice scenic walk around 1.4 miles each way.
If you visit in the early spring you’ll find beautiful flowers throughout the park from both sets of swings at each end of the park.
One of my favorite spots for pictures is the flower section closest to the Ohio River near the playground with a view of the Roebling Bridge in the background.
Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum
4521 Spring Grove Ave, Cincinnati, OH
Spring Grove Cemetery is the 2nd oldest cemetery in the United States dating back to 1845.
The historic cemetery with a 733-acre garden is truly a gem. It’s a favorite of photographers of all levels year-round. It’s also a beautiful place to run or walk with miles of paved roads.
The cemetery offers special events and historical tours in the warmer months that history fans will love.
I took a tour around Memorial Weekend a few years ago and enjoyed learning about the meanings behind the symbols located on the headstones.
The blooming trees are one of the highlights if you visit Spring Grove Cemetery in late March.
Later in the spring, more of the tulips and other flowers will be on display.
You can park on the right side of the road throughout the cemetery.
Because this is a cemetery make sure you’re mindful of your surroundings and avoid going near areas where services are being held.
There are several small lakes with ducks and geese and the turtles love to sit out in the sun on warm days.
Washington Park in Over the Rhine
1230 Elm St, Cincinnati, OH
Washington Park is one of my all-time favorite parks. It’s located in the heart of Over the Rhine neighborhood of Cincinnati.
There is a parking garage located beneath the park. You’ll also find that you’re near lots of fantastic restaurants within a few blocks, order takeout if you want to enjoy a picnic in the park.
Make sure you look for photo ops close to the fountains with Music Hall in the background and catch another angle with the gazebo.
Eden Park
950 Eden Park Dr, Cincinnati, OH
Eden Park has a little bit of everything with the 186-acre park.
Walking trails, several small lakes, and incredible trees and flowers throughout. It’s also where Playhouse in the Park, the Cincinnati Art Museum, and Krohn Conservatory reside.
Late March/early April is a great time to view the blooming trees within walking distance of the Krohn Conservatory.
Krohn Conservatory
1501 Eden Park Dr, Cincinnati, OH
Located inside Eden Park, Krohn Conservatory is very popular year-round.
You’ll find beautiful flowers both inside and outside of the Krohn Conservatory. Krohn Conservatory also has several themed floral shows throughout the year.
The Butterfly Show from April to June is a favorite for generations of families each year.
Ault Park
5090 Observatory Ave, Cincinnati, OH
The 224-acre park is Cincinnati’s 4th largest park with plenty of green space, hiking trails, a Pavilion, and several gardens.
If you visit in late March/early April you’ll find the trees are blooming beautifully at Ault Park.
Later in the spring, you can enjoy more of the flowers in the gardens.
Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden
3400 Vine St, Cincinnati, OH
You can visit your favorite zoo animals at one of two accredited botanical gardens in Ohio.
The Cincinnati Zoo has plenty of photo ops as one of the largest tulip displays in the Midwest.
You’ll find more than one million daffodils, hyacinths, flowering trees, shrubs, and spring bulbs throughout the park ranging in colors.
Purchase Discounted Tickets for the Cincinnati Zoo hereTunes and Blooms at The Cincinnati Zoo
Every Thursday evening in April you can enjoy free concerts and admission to the Cincinnati during Tunes and Blooms.
These weekly concerts are very popular, but there is a parking fee.
The weather can be unpredictable in the spring and some concert events may be canceled for storms so definitely make it a priority to go if the weather is good.
The Cincinnati Zoo is one of the best places to take family pictures with younger kids because most kids enjoy going to the zoo anyway.
