A Beach visit in Grand Haven, Michigan

We visit Grand Haven Beach almost every time we visit family in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Grand Haven Beach is only about 30 minutes from Grand Rapids and offers a great mix of beach, boardwalk, and restaurants.

Grand Haven State Park has a HUGE beach area and also has camping sites next to the beach. They  fill up quickly during the summer months because of their awesome location.

During our visit, we experienced an afternoon fog that made the pier disappear in the middle of the day!

On our way back to the beach the fog started to lift and we could actually see the beach again.

There are a few places that you have to stop at on a visit to Grand Haven.

The first one is Pronto Pups.

This little shack isn’t big but the corndogs here are amazing!

They are made right in front of you and completed with optional mustard.

Go ahead and get two because you will not want to wait in line again for another!

…and for the record I did not eat all five in my hand, I was just helping carry our order of 15 back to our group.

Pronto Pup is located at 313 S. Harbor Dr., Grand Haven, Michigan.  You can connect with Pronto Pup on facebook.

Another place you have to go to is the Dairy Treat. It’s across the street from Pronto Pups so you don’t have to commute far.

It happens to be home of the famous “Rockpile” which is a vanilla shake with pecans, bananas and strawberries.

I’m normally a chocolate girl but this combo makes me convert whenever I’m in town.

You can never have too many days at the beach. If you stay in Grand Haven late enough, you might even be able to take in the World Famous Musical Fountains. They are a fountain light show set to music on Dewey Hill. Check out this link for the schedule.

Grand Haven is a great city to visit. You can learn more about other activities to try from the Grand Haven website.
