The Generous Pour Event at The Capital Grille

The Generous Pour Event at The Capital Grille

I was invited to attend a media dinner at The Capital Grille to experience the Generous Pour event. This was my first time visiting The Capital Grille but I will never forget our memorable meal there.

One of the first things that I noticed and appreciated was that this restaurant draws an adult crowd. I love my kids, but on a date night I really enjoy a kid-free environment (my kids and yours.)

So what is The Generous Pour?

The signature summer series will feature a collection of seven benchmark offerings from wineries who have forever changed the landscape of wine.

From July 11 through September 4, 2016, for $28 per person with dinner, guests are invited to explore and enjoy as many of these remarkable wines as they like.

The Generous Pour Rebels, Rule Breakers & Game Changers collection features the direct descendants of some of winemaking’s boldest vintners.

From California’s first single-vineyard Chardonnay and the first winery to name a region, and an American winemaker in Northern Italy, these world-class wines were crafted by those who understood the value of taking a risk.

Sound pretty amazing?

It is.

During The Generous Pour, servers will suggest pairings for each course, based on individual preferences, allowing guests to craft their own personalized wine dinner.

The Generous Pour 2016 collection includes: Stags’ Leap, The Leap Cabernet Sauvignon, Lyric by Etude Pinot Noir, Beaulieu Vineyard, Tapestry Cabernet Blend, Penfolds Bin 2 Shiraz Blend, Chateau St. Jean, Robert Young Vineyard Chardonnay, Provenance Sauvignon Blanc, Stellina di Notte Pinot Grigio.

We started at the bar area with cocktails. My husband ordered the In Fashion (Russell’s Reserve 10 Year small batch bourbon, Grand Marnier and black walnut bitters, served over an orange ice sphere with an amarena cherry) and I ordered the Blackberry Bourbon Sidecar (Woodford Reserve handcrafted in small batches with blackberries, Cointreau, lemon juice and fresh thyme.)

We both love Bourbon and were very satisfied with our drinks.

After cocktails we were led into a private room with a beautiful table setting. I loved that the room had a lot of natural light coming in.

It was great to have adult conversation over an uninterrupted dinner with friends new and old.

We started with three amazing appetizers. Pan-fried Calamari with hot cherry peppers, Prosciutto Wrapped Mozzarella, and Lobster and Crab Cakes.

The Capital Grille 14

If you love spicy food, you will really enjoy the calamari appetizer because it’s the perfect blend of crunch and spice.

The Capital Grille 17

The mozzarella is fresh and there are large pieces of lobster and crab in the cakes.  You can’t go wrong with any other these. If you get all three, even better.

Our wine was paired with our meal selections throughout the event to compliment the meal perfectly.

For our entree selection, it was a tough choice. My husband and I ordered the Porcini Rubbed Bone-In Ribeye with 15 year aged Balsamic. Several of the staff shared that it was their personal favorite entree. We understand why. The preparation that went into the flavors and tenderness of the meat were greatly appreciated during each bite.

Our neighbor at the table ordered the Bone-In Kona Crusted Dry Aged NY Strip with Shallot Butter. He was also very happy with his selection.

The sides during our meal were Lobster Mac n’ cheese, Parmsean Truffle fries, and Grilled Asparagus with lemon mosto, and Soy Glazed Brussels Sprouts with bacon.

The sides went FAST at our table, especially the Lobster Mac n’ cheese that had large pieces of lobster in it, which is why I don’t have any pictures of them. I did get a picture of the Brussels Sprouts that were very good. I would eat my veggies regularly, if I had those everyday.

In preparation for dessert, I boxed up half of my ribeye which made for an amazing lunch the following day.

For dessert, we shared a trio of awesomeness; The Capital Grille Cheesecake (Brûlée Style with Fresh Berries), Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake, and Coconut Cream Pie with house made caramel sauce.

The Capital Grille 24

You cannot go wrong with any of these options!
