An Overnight at the Cincinnati Museum Center

I’ve wanted to take my boys for an overnight at the museum for a few years. The movie “A Night at the Museum” made that desire even stronger.

My boys and I attended the Super hero themed Sleepover that took place at the Cincinnati Children’s Museum.

We met in the rotunda of Union Terminal which houses all three Cincinnati Museums in one building. The art deco design in the rotunda is so incredible.

Our group was guided through the Museum of Natural History to set up our sleeping quarters which were large carpeted classrooms. I recommend bringing an air mattress if you have one unless you are comfortable sleeping on the floor. I did bring a memory foam pad but I would still recommend the air mattress if you have one.

The museum staff shared stories of superheroes and showed us animals that have some superhero traits.

We moved into a classroom inside the Children’s Museum where the kids observed different covers of comic books and then were given the challenge to create their own superhero cover.

The kids were also challenged to make their superhero with modeling clay.

There was also a few science demos that the kids got to participate in.

Everyone was offered a healthy snack provided by the museum at around 9pm.

The kids were given time to play at the Children’s Museum at their own leisure.

Like all good things, playtime had to come to an end and lights out was around 11:30.

The next morning we packed up our items and took them out to our vehicles and then met in the rotunda for breakfast.

Adults will appreciate coffee in the morning and kids can choose from boxed cereal or breakfast bars and a banana.

After breakfast our group watched an Omnimax movie. We really enjoyed our overnight experience. It was a great combination of fun, education and play.

You can find out more about overnights at the Cincinnati Museum Center from their website.

Disclosure: I received complimentary overnights for my family for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
