An Intentional Vacation Rental That Gives Back
There are a lot of vacation rentals in the Hocking Hills area but one of the draws of The Woodlands at Hocking Hills /Woodland Lodge is this vacation rental’s intentional purpose to help others.
I love this family’s heart to foster a culture of creating memories for others in their vacation home AND also use it to help others in need.
Their children have each chosen a charity that they want to support and 5% of each rental goes back to one of the following organizations:

- St. Jude’s Children’s Research
- The Humane Society
The vacation renter chooses which charity is directly impacted by their stay.

A Girlfriend Getaway at The Woodland Lodge
I was joined by several friends, who are also moms, for a getaway at Woodland Lodge.
You know you’re having a good time when you don’t remember to take a lot of pictures together at the actual lodge because everyone is just enjoying hanging out and being in the moment.
Rest assured we brought plenty of mom snacks and enjoyed several meals out at local restaurants.
And we did get a group shot at a local winery and during our blacklight splatter painting session.

A Tour of Woodland Lodge
As you pull up to the property be on the lookout for a large sign at the bottom of the driveway. The driveway is pretty steep.
How Many Bedrooms Does the Woodland Lodge Have?
The Woodland Lodge has 5 bedrooms. 2 on the top level, 1 on the main floor, and 2 bedrooms on the lower level.
Main Floor at The Woodland Lodge
The main floor has one bedroom with a king-sized bed. If you have a guest with mobility issues this is the ideal room. There are still a few steps on the main floor from the front porch.
A full bathroom is located next to the bedroom. This is also the only bathroom on the main floor.
2nd Floor of Woodland Lodge
The second floor has two bedrooms and a loft area.
The king-sized bedroom also has a very large closet with a pack n’ play.
The second bedroom has a queen-sized bed.
The bathroom on the second floor can be accessed from the hallway and from the closet of the king-sized bedroom.
The loft has a chair with an ottoman and a pull-out couch.
Lower Level of Woodland Lodge
The bedrooms on the lower level are ideal for families or kids.
There is a large full-size bathroom on the lower level.
Each of the two bedrooms on the lower level has a Queen Bed and 4 Twin Beds.
The armoire has extra bedding and blankets.
Family Room/ Living Room at Woodland Lodge
The family room has a television, couch, a loveseat, and a reclining chair.
*There is NO use of the wood-burning fireplace in the living area.
Dining Room at Woodland Lodge
The dining table has seating for up to 12 people.
There is also additional seating at the counter bar for 4 people.
Kitchen at the Woodland Lodge
The full kitchen has plenty of space for making a meal and socializing during your stay.
The fully stocked kitchen has the following:
- Blender
- Crock Pot
- Dishware and Flatware
- Dishwasher
- Microwave
- Refrigerator
- Stove/Oven
- Toaster
- Cooking Basics
- Trash Bags/Paper Towels
- Coffee Maker
- Coffee, creamer, and sugar provided
*There is also an additional refrigerator in the basement for additional storage.
Sunroom
The sunroom has a table and chairs that can be additional dining space or another game area. There is also additional seating with a coffee table.
Kids AND adults will LOVE the swing chairs! Just don’t get too wild with them or try bouncing off the walls so that future guests can enjoy them too.
Game Room at Woodland Lodge
The game room at Woodland Lodge has the following activities that will appeal to all ages:
- Air Hockey
- Cable TVs
- Foosball
- Pop-a-shot Basketball
- Ping-pong
- Shuffleboard
- Ring-toss
- Board Games
There is a comfortable sectional couch, bean bags, and a high-top table that’s perfect for board games. The board game closet is stocked with lots of options, located adjacent to the game room.
Theater Room at Woodland Lodge
The in-home theater room has seating for 6 people and a game table that seats 4 people.
You and five friends can lounge comfortably in the theater room with comfortable reclining chairs. Each chair has an individual blanket thoughtfully placed on top for instant snuggling.
Front Porch at Woodland Lodge
The front porch of Woodland Lodge has two rocking chairs.
It’s also a nice spot to enjoy a cup of coffee while warming up to the morning sun.
The Back Deck of The Woodland Lodge
The large back deck with a gas grill with provided propane, an outdoor dining table with an umbrella, and additional seating for four.
There are string lights that you can plug in at night.
The deck has nice views of the wooded lot and the private hot tub down below.
Hot Tub at Woodland Lodge
Speaking of the hot tub, the 6-person hot tub is accessible from the lower level of the Woodland Lodge. The upper deck does not directly connect to the hot tub deck.
There are hooks for towels conveniently located by the door to the hot tub on the lower level.
Two Fire Pits at Woodland Lodge
The first outdoor fire pit will greet you on the paved concrete as you approach the property.
It’s a great location with lots of seating under the string lights that make everything more magical.
The other fire pit is to the right of the lodge and has additional chairs set up surrounding it.
Parking at Woodland Lodge
There is enough parking for 10 vehicles at Woodland Lodge on the driveway.
If you have an electric vehicle there is an outdoor standard outlet located by the parking area for convenient car charging.
Woodland Lodge Rules
- Must be 25 years old to book
- No smoking
- No pets
- No parties, events, or large gatherings
- No use of the wood-burning fireplace in the living area
Wooded Trails at The Woodland Lodge
The Woodland Lodge has two hiking trails for guests to enjoy.
There is a trail directly behind the lodge and the other trail is toward the left of the lodge and passes the barn and loops around to the driveway.
