During my first visit to the Pocono Mountains, I discovered that the area has a lot to offer for visitors. We stayed at Split Rock Resort for 2 nights during our visit and discovered that there is a lot to do there.
Visit the Inspiration for the Name
One the first places we visited during our stay was on a short hike to view the resort’s namesake. I was told that you can see up to 30 miles away on a clear day.
One of my favorite features of the resort was the H2O indoor waterpark on site.
I know my kids would have LOVED this waterpark because it had a lot of the features that they tend to spend the most time on whenever we visit an indoor waterpark.
Here are the top features my kids would have loved. Surf Simulator, the basketball hoops, tube slides, wave pool and the lily pads. I shared this trip to the Pocono Mountains with a lifelong friend as a fun girlfriend getaway without kids. We both enjoyed the tube slides, wave pool, and the hot tub. Moms can still have fun without the kids!
If you have younger kids, you will appreciate the area designated for younger kids. I appreciated that the area has a lot of seating throughout the waterpark. I have been to other indoor waterparks where the seating is really limited. There is plenty of room. You will need to bring your own towel unless you plan on purchasing one. There are not any complimentary towels provided. There are lockers available for an additional fee. The waterpark is open to on-site and day pass guests.
On property at Split Rock, guests can enjoy lots of leisure activities. The resort has a daily list of activities going on throughout the property. There is even a first run movie theater inside the resort! You don’t have to be an overnight guest to visit the resort. You can pay for the activities that you want to enjoy, which makes the resort a nice option for locals as well. There is an additional indoor pool with a hot tub, fitness area, tennis courts, racketball, ping pong, billiard tables, basketball court, arcade and a bowling alley.
Split Rock is a popular venue for weddings and big events and offers event more activities for guests in the summer.
Our accommodations had a full kitchen, large bathroom, sofa sleeper, and a very comfortable bed. We took advantage of the complimentary shuttle service because we flew in.
Split Rock Resort has several dining options on site along with a bar and food court. I really enjoyed the breakfast bar at the Split Rock Grill.
Split Rock Resort is located a very short drive from Jack Frost Ski Resort where you can ski, snowboard, or go snow tubing. Jack Frost offered something for every skill level on the slopes and the view from the top of the tubing run was really beautiful with incredible views of the Pocono Mountains.
