Over the years we’ve seen many drive-thru light displays but the Underground Light display at Lights Under Louisville is truly unique.
The name says it all. You see an incredible display of lights underground. In fact, this is the world’s only fully underground light display!
Even more amazing is that you would never guess this was the location.
The display is 1.2 miles into the cavern!
Each year the Louisville MEGA Cavern is transformed into an underground holiday light spectacular for the Christmas season. Load up the kids and enjoy a 30-minute ride through part of 17 miles of underground passageways, which features over 850 lit characters with over 2,000,000 points of light. It’s the only underground light show of its kind on the planet.
MEGA Cavern’s Lights Under Louisville allows the public to drive their own vehicles inside the cavern, during the Christmas season, to experience this one-of-a-kind holiday transformation. It’s a great way to get your family in the mood this holiday season, so load up the kids and enjoy the sights and sounds of Lights Under Louisville.

I actually am greatly disappointed. We have been sitting in traffic about 8 miles for an hour and a half and moved maybe one block. We drove all the way from southern Ohio to see these underground light. I rented a van to bring my grandchildren. We got here at 2:00 just to find out they don’t open till 5:00pm – so we went to eat at Cracker Barrel and came back just to be in a traffic jam for close to 2 hours. It’s ridiculous they don’t have better organization than they do. It’s 9:00 and we have an hour to get there before they close. Which looks like we won’t make it. Now for a 4 hour drive back home. I am thoroughly aggravated – a waste of time – money used to lease a passenger van and gas as well. Well it’s been over 2 hours now. Pathetic absolutely pathetic.
