Mega Quest- Fully Underground Ropes Challenge Course

A visit to Mega Cavern in Louisville, Kentucky was on my adventure list and I was SO EXCITED that we were able to cross off a visit during the final days in December.

Mega Cavern is located just 5 miles from downtown Louisville and is located on a dead-end road near a commercial park. You would never know it was there.

Mega Cavern also offers a variety of attractions for visitors that are all UNDERGROUND!

There is a “Mega Zips” zip line course, “Mega Tram” tour,  “Lights Under Louisville” Christmas light display and their newest underground attraction “Mega Quest” which is a ropes challenge course.

Each person gets a helmet with a miner’s helmet light, two heavy duty lanyards with safety clips, full body harness and trolley system.

Your equipment is checked before you begin and there are plenty of staff nearby if you have any questions or need anything while on the course.

There are 76 challenging elements which means that you will never get bored on this course. You really can choose your own adventure!

I love that rope challenge courses help build confidence. Each time you overcome a challenging task, you are more prepared to take on a new one.

I witnessed my kids face their fears on several that day.

I loved that the course had a great mix of easy and challenging obstacles. There were several that keep me on my toes and a few that almost made me do the splits but I really enjoyed the challenge. The course is also a great workout!

If you are not comfortable with heights, there is also a low course that also has a variety of easy to challenging obstacles.

You won’t regret it!

Here are a few details you need to know before you go.

*Dress in layers. It gets warm really quick as you take on the challenges. I would also recommend yoga or running pants for the most comfort.

  • Ticket purchase reserves three hours on the course per person.
  • Minimum age is 5 years old
  • Reservations are recommended but are not required.
  • Recommended tips for guides are 15-20%
  • Each participant must be able to reach a height of 50 inches with outstretched arms to connect to the elements.
  • There are group rates for 12 or more in a party. Call for pricing.

*Prices range from $29- $39 per person depending on the size of your group, age and day of your climb.

That looks so cool! My family loved the obstacle challenge at Stone Mountain in Georgia, but underground, in a cave? So neat!

I wish they’d had attractions like that whenI was young and adventurous, or even when my kids were.

What fun! I think that is a very reasonable priced day out, and kids get to exercise while having fun – BONUS! Thanks so much for linking up to the #SundayTraveler, when you get a second would be great of you can link back to one of the hosts + add the badge. I also pinned this, I hope that’s okay!
