We spent 3 nights at the Cannonville/Bryce Valley KOA Holiday. It was a great base camp to explore both Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park.
We were on a pretty tight schedule due to the nature of our 7-day road trip from Las Vegas to multiple National Parks. If we had more time we could have easily stayed a week at this location and not run out of local places to explore each day.
After a long day of hiking and exploring it was so nice to come back to a place that continued the feel of outdoor adventure but with amenities.
Choose Your Own Camping Comfort Level

What is a Park Model RV?
According to Go RVing Park Model RVs (sometimes referred to deluxe Cabins or Cottages) are unique units that provide temporary accommodations for recreation, camping or seasonal use.
We love to stay in Park Model RVs because it’s the best of both worlds with the amenities of a cabin and a camping vibe when we are traveling to multiple destinations.
Park Model RVs are designed to look like a home, but they need to be hooked up to site electricity, sewer, and water like any RV. They may have a front porch, a sleeping loft and are a great way to experience the campground lifestyle if you don’t have an RV or all the gear that goes with tent camping.
KOA calls this style of Park Model RV a “deluxe cabin” but they are known in the RV Industry as Park Model RVs.

This deluxe cabin can sleep up to 6 people and has a 2-night minimum. No pets or tents are permitted on these cabin sites.
It was easy to achieve our optimal temperature inside with air conditioning, heat, and ceiling fans in each of the main rooms.
Bedrooms in the Deluxe Cabin
Each of the bedrooms had a queen-size bed with pocket doors for additional privacy. The main bedroom also had a television with a digital antenna for local stations.

The firepit area has comfortable Adirondack chairs and there are additional chairs on the front porch.
When you are done using the firepit it is important to thoroughly douse your fire with water to help reduce the risk of wildfires in the area.
You can purchase firewood, Smore supplies, and lighters onsite at the camp store.
Star Gaze at Night in a Dark Sky Setting
The first night of our stay we arrived at the KOA campground after 10pm when it was already really dark.
(We were at the Grand Canyon and Horseshoe Bend earlier that day.)
The best surprise that evening was discovering the giant mountain behind our cabin after a long exposure on my camera.
I also discovered that my camera caught a shooting star.
Overhead the sky was FILLED with stars at every turn. The “backyard” dark sky views are such a treat for professional stargazers and amateurs alike.

Use the Camper Resource Book in Your Cabin
We found this guide to be a great resource during our stay. We visited Mossy Cave and waterfall because of its reference in the book.
If we had more time in the area, we would’ve tried to cross more of the places shared in the book off the list during our stay.
Your KOA hosts are a great resource for the best places to eat, hike, mountain bike, fish, horseback ride, or take a leisurely drive.
Great Places to Eat Near the Cannonville/Bryce Valley KOA Holiday
We are not big on cooking during vacation and find it more convenient to eat out when we are traveling a lot each day. We found a few local restaurants 5 minutes up the road in the city of Tropic.
During our visit, we ate at Rustler’s Restaurant two different mornings for breakfast. The food was great and so were the prices.
If you find someone willing to share, I recommend going sweet and savory.
Their omelets are great and so is the strawberry cheesecake french toast.
For dinner, we ate at The Pizza Place in Tropic after we were done hiking at Bryce Canyon.
You can’t go wrong with the breadsticks or their chicken bacon ranch pizza. If we had more time we would’ve also tried I.D.K Barbecue in Tropic.
We ate at the Thunderbird Restaurant after visiting Zion National Park. It was only 15 minutes from the National Park and on our route back to the KOA.
They have great burgers and pasta dishes. I tried the jalepeno burger with sweet potato fries.
Make sure that you save room to try one of their homemade pies. We tried the “Thunderberry” pie made with a blend of strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry with ice cream on the side.
