Why We Call Meatloaf “Manloaf”

Why we call mealoaf MANLOAF

As a mom of boys, I always have to keep my kitchen filled. Their growing appetites have continued to increase over the years as they get older which means that my boys are always searching for something to eat.

Aldi

A few years ago, I started shopping at ALDI more regularly for a few reasons.  I gave up on couponing because it felt like another job and became another source of stress. ALDI was a lifesaver when we experienced an unexpected layoff a few years ago because we could still get a lot of groceries for a low price. Spending less on quality food also allows me to have more money in our budget for what I actually enjoy spending money on which is more travel and adventure.

I was given a challenge by ALDI to create a $10 dinner. I like a challenge and I thought this recipe would be the perfect one to share for a “meat and potatoes” type of family.

I discovered that sometimes the title of a recipe can make all of the difference when I’m asked “What’s for Dinner?”So we call meatloaf “Manloaf” in our house. Meatloaf just didn’t sound as cool. It also doesn’t hurt that their dad helps me make it so it has a manly touch.

Manloaf Meatloaf recipe

The glace definitely makes the difference for this recipe. The can of vegetable soup for the meatloaf is optional because sometimes you can get away with sneaking extra veggies in and sometimes you just can’t depending on your kids’ preferences. If your kids don’t like the texture from items in vegetable soup, you will definitely want to remove it from the recipe. My family also loves the prepackaged Caesar salads which add some greens.

This is a great meal that is simple to make, filling and budget friendly.
