Our family enjoys spending time outdoors and but we also enjoy having an option out of the elements at night which is why we loved our experience at Petoskey RV Resort. We are definitely more of “glamping” type campers.
According to Go RVing, Deluxe cabins and premium cottages are also known as Park Model RVs. They are unique units that provide temporary accommodations for recreation, camping or seasonal use.
Park Model RVs are designed to look like a home, but they need to be hooked up to site electricity, sewer, and water like any RV. They may have a front porch, a sleeping loft, and are a great way to experience camping if you’re not ready to purchase an RV or all the gear that goes with tent camping.
What to Expect in the Premium Cottage
During our visit, we stayed in the 1 bedroom Premium Cottage that sleeps 2-6. It was perfect for our family of 4. The parents had a bedroom and the teenager got the loft as their space.
The Covered Porch at the Premium Cottage
Upon arrival at the Premium Cottage, the first impression is the covered porch that looks out to the small pond.
There are two Adirondack style chairs with a small table on the porch. In the yard for the cottage, there is a picnic table and a fire ring for campfires for each cottage. This is a great spot for morning coffee or late night chats.
The Family Room in the Premium Cottage
As you walk through the sliding glass door from the covered porch, you will immediately notice that this is no ordinary cabin. The family room area of the Premium Cottage has a flat-screen cable TV, heat and air conditioning, pullout sofa, and an electric fireplace.
The dining area has a table and 4 chairs. Extra guests can dine outside on the picnic table or sit in the family area.
The Kitchen in the Premium Cottage
One of the biggest surprises, when I went inside the premium cottage, was the kitchen area. The Premium Cottage has a kitchen with full-sized appliances, cookware, dinnerware, and utensils. You have a full refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, dishwasher, and oven range.
There were coffee filters supplied along several packets with coffee, tea, and sweeteners which was a nice touch.
If you are cooking a lot of meals during your stay, you’ll find plenty of storage for your food in the cabinets.
Use the Grocery Shopping Checklist below to help you remember all of the basics if you plan on cooking a few meals during your stay.
The Bathroom at the Premium Cottage
Inside the bathroom, there is a sink, shower, and toilet. I love that we had a private bathroom for our family to use during our stay.
The Main Bedroom of the Premium Cottage
The main bedroom has a queen-sized bed. You’ll find several storage options in the main bedroom for clothes in the dresser, closet, and the side cabinets by the bed with outlets for your cellphone.
Linens are provided for all of the sleeping areas. For extra privacy, you can close the pocket door.
Loft Area of the Premium Cottage
The loft area has a shorter ceiling with two separate mattress areas between the stairs. This is an area that is fun for younger kids…and my teenagers had no problem sleeping in in the mornings up there too.
There are sheets and pillows for the loft beds but no blankets and pillows for the full size pullout couch.
Premium 2 Bedroom Cottage
2 Bedroom | Sleeps 8
If you have a larger group you might want to consider the 2 Bedroom Cottage with all of the amenities of the one-bedroom but with an additional bedroom.
