I was invited to accept the challenge to Get Fit at Liberty Center. This was our first visit and we definitely got our steps in! Liberty Center provides indoor shopping along with a multi-use recreational community concept with restaurants, entertainment, offices, and living space.
The Budget
With a total shopping budget of $100, I challenged each boy to find an athletically themed item for $25 each. This is where is gets tricky. When it’s my money it’s easy to spend they don’t care and spend it quickly when it’s their money to spend, they are more mindful of their options. They even spent some time contemplating pooling their money together for a bigger item which led to multiple stores and additional steps as they narrowed down the options.
I found a pair of Teva sandals at Dick’s Sporting Goods to use for an upcoming trip to Florida. I’m packing really light on that trip and I wanted flip flops that offer more support for long walks, that are still stylish. My boys each found a shirt to purchase after weighing out all of their options at their favorite athletic stores.
Dining Options
We celebrated our purchases over lunch at China Wok. It was refreshing to see their sign that stated no MSG added, fresh ingredients, low cholesterol, all cooking done with light vegetable oil. Everyone was happy and full without a heavy feeling afterward. (I realize that I could have chosen even healthier options at China Wok for lunch, but we walked a lot that day and I really like General Tso’s chicken) *You can find more healthy restaurant menus at Liberty Center here.
Outdoor and Indoor Spaces Kids will enjoy
We found several areas where you can burn off additional calories at Liberty Center. Inside, my younger son enjoyed playing at the Cincinnati Children’s Discovery Center. I had fun challenging him to a few rounds of Pig Pop.
Kids can also burn off energy around the outdoor complex. The space is really beautiful with lots of green spaces on each level. Younger kids will love the Liberty Express Train Display.
Classes
If you want a more intentional workout, you can take your exercise in the form of a class too. Liberty Center offers a variety of yoga classes onsite at the Unity Chapel. If you prefer walking, I would suggest checking out the property walking steps maps with indoor and outdoor routes and distances.
We really enjoyed our first visit to Liberty Center and we’ve found so many reasons to come back.
Liberty Center is located at 7100 Foundry Row, Liberty Twp, Ohio.
