A stay at Kings Island Camp Cedar is the perfect complement to a visit to Kings Island Amusement Park.
Kings Island Camp Cedar can be a great place to stay for out-of-town guests AND locals who want a local staycation adventure.
I’m sharing more about what to expect from guests visiting the outdoor luxury resort for the first time.
My family from Michigan was in town to experience Kings Island Amusement Park for the very first time. This was the perfect opportunity to check out the new Kings Island Camp Cedar for two nights while they were in town.
The luxury resort’s opening date was in June of the summer of 2021 and as a Kings Island Ambassador, I was thrilled to share their first time at the park and at Camp Cedar.
Thanks again to Kings Island Camp Cedar for hosting our stay. All opinions are my own. This article contains affiliate links.

One of the best things about staying at Kings Island Camp Cedar is that it’s located less than a mile from Kings Island’s front gates.
It’s so nice to not have to travel far after a long day of fun at the park, especially if you have traveled to the area from out of town.
Kings Island Camp Cedar is open for the majority of the year, which allows travelers to stay close to the park in the spring, summer, and during Haunt in the fall and Winterfest around the holidays.

Full-Service RV Sites
Each of the full-service recreational vehicle spaces comes will full hookup capability including water, sewer, and electric.
Each RV site is on a level concrete or blacktop pads and there are sites available with different configurations to make it easier for RVs to pull through or back-in.
There are two different sections of the park with RV sites.
One is closer to the expressway side and has a bathhouse and playground.
The other RV site section is closer to the area with pools and lodges. I was told that many of the repeat RV campers have preferred sites on both sides of the resort.
It really comes down to preference and what you want to be closer to.
Each of the RV sites includes a picnic table and grill and most of the RV sites include a fire pit for guests to enjoy.
Bathhouse and 24-Hour Laundry Facility
I went inside one of the bathhouses near our cottage several times over the course of our stay and I found it to be very clean.
Each bathhouse also has a 24-hour laundry facility available for guests.
There are several bathhouses at the resort for guests to use including one by the pools.
It’s also nice to have a backup shower and bathroom option if you are staying in a cottage with multiple people trying to get ready at the same time.

Take a Tour of Hickory Cottage
The cottage comes with both heating and air conditioning so that guests can be comfortable during their stay year-round.
Cottage guests use a key card to enter the cabin. It does automatically lock so I would recommend having a few people keep a key on hand.
The front porch comes with two chairs and a side table perfect for enjoying your morning coffee.
Each cottage has one designated assigned parking spot. Additional vehicles can park near the welcome center.
Resort guests can transfer items to the cabin with ease with the two-wheel carts.
Inside the Hickory Cottage
The cabin felt more spacious inside than it looked on the outside with the high beam ceilings, continuous white walls, warm interior finishes, and lots of windows throughout.
The stairs to the loft can also double as storage for luggage during your stay for more floor space.
The kitchen at Hickory Cabin
The kitchen was stocked with modern appliances including a full-size refrigerator with an ice maker, electric stove, dishwasher, toaster, and coffee maker.
The additional amenities make it easy for families to feel at home during their stay with the basic cookware and dishes needed to make a meal.
If you need to stock up on food for your stay there is a Kroger grocery store less than 2 miles away at 5210 OH-741, Mason, OH.
I love that you can have an urban camping experience conveniently located within 5 minutes of the expressway, restaurants, and stores.
The eat-in kitchen bar makes it easy for kids to eat inside or you can utilize the picnic table outside for additional table space.
Sleeping Spaces in the Hickory Cabin
The Hickory Cabin can sleep up to 8 people. There is a private bedroom in the back of the cabin with a queen-sized bed and pocket door.
The main bedroom has built-in cabinets and a vanity.
When you slide the barn doors there is ample storage with racks to hang your clothes, a safe, and an ironing board and iron.
The loft area is a popular sleeping spot for kids. They love to climb up and down the ladder and have their special space tucked away.
I slept comfortably on the bottom bunk of the recessed bunk beds. I liked that each bunk had a little shelf and an outlet to make it easier to charge my phone at night.
The sofa also pulls out into a bed to sleep an additional 2 people.
Living Area
There is seating on the couch during the day in addition to two stools located underneath the flat screen tv.
Full Bathroom
The Hickory Cabin has a full bathroom with a toilet and a large shower.
There were a few small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and a bar of hand soap provided in the bathroom.
Outside Hickory Cottage
Our cottage had a picnic table on a concrete pad and a charcoal grill.
Most sites do have a fire pit. I loved that our specific cabin had a gas fire pit. You can create fire with a touch of a button.
I would suggest packing camping chairs so that you can sit close to the fire.
There are outdoor wood fire rings at other campsites and firewood is available for purchase at the camp store.
Relax in the Hornbeam Lodge
Hornbeam Lodge holds the resort’s grand lodge and the welcome center connected to Ironwood Grill and Tap Room and Coyote Creek Camp Store.
There is cozy furniture for guests to gather and relax in front of the grand fireplace.
This is also a nice area for guests to gather to play games or watch a game.
Dining Options at Kings Island Camp Cedar

Ironwood Grill & Tap restaurant
During peak season the Ironwood Grill & Tap Room offers casual sit-down breakfast, lunch, and dinner inside Hornbeam Lodge or outside on the patio.
The diverse menu offers soups, salads, appetizers, pizzas, and more to pair with the variety of craft beers on tap.
We stayed during non-peak season and the restaurant opened at 11:30 am which allowed us to experience their menu items during lunch and dinner.
Guests can also order their meals to go or take advantage of the delivery service to their RV or cottage for an additional fee.
Ironwood Grill Menu Recommendations
If you are in the mood for Italian fare, Ironwood Grill has delicious pizza with toppings that can be split so that parents and kids are happy.
We enjoyed two separate meals with salad and pizza over the course of our stay because kids are always in the mood for pizza.
A few other recommendations are the potato skins topped with bacon, cheddar & Monterey Jack
cheese, scallions, and sour cream.
Their Fried Pickles are lightly breaded, fried and served with Cedar Sauce.
The Cedar Sauce is so good!!!
The Loaded Nachos are perfect for sharing topped with Chef Walt’s Chili, a blend of Monterey Jack & cheddar cheeses, pico de gallo, sour cream, and fresh jalapeno.
Be on the lookout for the campfire symbol on the menu to indicate Chef’s favorites.
There are local beers on tap in addition to wine and cocktails on the menu at the bar. My brother-in-law really enjoyed the beer from Sonder Brewing in Mason.
The bar area has a garage door that can open up allowing guests from the adult poolside to order and enjoy a drink without leaving the pool area.
Unique Dining Options at Belize Street
On Friday and Saturday nights during peak season, you can pick and choose food from the outdoor restaurant of your choice.

The private cabana allows guests to relax in the shade with several seating options including two lounge chairs.

It’s also pretty easy to get in vacation mode with a pina colada in hand by the pool.

There is a hiking trail for resort guests to enjoy that takes you through the woods and by scenic ponds.
