I was invited to put Sharpie Extreme markers to the test during an extreme adventure. Cable wakeboarding at Wake Nation seemed like the perfect extreme adventure for the challenge.
Wake Nation Cincinnati is the first and only full-sized cable wake park in the Midwest!
So what is Cable Wakeboarding?
The ability for riders of all skill levels to wakeboard, water ski, kneeboard, and wakeskate without a boat on a 10-acre lake!
How does it work?
The Main lake tows up to 6 wakeboarders, skiers, or kneeboarders at the same time with ropes attached to a moving cable that sits high above the water. Riders are towed around the lake through a course of optional sliders and rails.
There is no boat at Wake Nation and all of the riders are pulled by the overhead cable system.
When a rider falls, the cable keeps pulling the other riders and the cable operator is able to seamlessly add a new rider on to the system. Once a rider falls, they will swim to the outer shore of the lake and make their way back to the starting dock to get in line for another ride on the cable!
Test designs created with Sharpie Extreme markers on our wakeboard helmets in the elements to see how they hold up against water and UV rays.
We wanted our wakeboard helmets to stand out in a good way with individual design.
We started with some custom decals that we applied to our helmets. Then we added the Sharpie Extreme colors of our choosing. (Red, Green, Black, or Blue)
I absolutely LOVED how they turned out! “Adventure Awaits” is the perfect motto for our family.
We each had a different look on our helmets with the same phrase.
During our visit, we tried kneeboarding and wakeboarding. The cable system made the learning process consistent and so much easier and faster for a beginner.
The cable system also makes it pretty easy to stand up on the board within a few tries. Another bonus was that the water was warm because it’s only about 8 feet deep.
We had a few wipeouts along the way, but we also had a lot of FUN in the process!
The advanced riders at Wake Nation took the adventure to the extreme on the various ramps and gave us some goals for the future. We were not quite ready for that during our first visit but we enjoyed watching them.
Our helmets were put to the test with multiple wipeouts and the design did not fade when exposed to harsh UV rays or smudge from being exposed to the water.
Our helmets looked just as good after our adventure as they did before.
Sharpie Extreme markers are great to use for outdoor gear, sports equipment, backpacks, and water bottles….(don’t get me started on how many sports water bottles we have lost over the years because we forgot to label them).
You can also use them to customize plastic, glass, and wood….or to make your helmet more personalized like we did.
We had a great time during our extreme adventure at Wake Nation Cincinnati and we will definitely be back!

That looks like so much fun! Great job! And cool helmets! How easy to personalize them like that!
Looks like Sharpie Extreme passed the test! Wakeboarding seems like so much fun! Good call on the individual designs! They will be able to know which one is theirs for years to come!
What a fun adventure! I love the designs you added to your helmets and impressed that they held up so well. I knew there was a reason I love Sharpie!
I can’t help but think that my big kids would love to visit Wake Nation. What a fun way to spend the day.
