East Race Waterway has class 2 rapids that visitors can test their skills with a taste of what it’s like to try whitewater rafting.

The East Raceway appeals to novices and more advanced kayakers who enjoy working on improving their skill set.

There are several bridges along the raceway where you can observe first.

What to Expect During a White Water Adventure at East Race Waterway 

Your adventure starts by getting your raft and equipment and then carrying it over to the dock.

The size of your raft is determined by the size of your group.

The distance between where you pick up your raft and the dock is pretty short so you don’t have to worry about carrying it too far.

We received safety instructions before we took the plunge. The beginning area is very calm which changes pretty quickly.

There are lifeguards located strategically along the course in case you run into any problems. If you fall out of the raft, the water level is only 3-5 feet and you want to float on your back and travel feet first.

For stability purposes, we quickly learned that it was better if my husband sat in the raft vs. on the seat.

We absolutely LOVED our experience!!! We loved it so much that we knew our kids had to try this adventure with us.

Riders need to be the required height of 54” for rafting.

Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult in the raft. The kids listened to the safety instructions and then we were on our way.

Our boys were tucked in the middle of the raft so that they felt more secure during their time on the waterway.

The kids LOVED the experience too!

Don’t forget to pack water shoes, towels, and a change of clothes for when you are finished.

The East Race Waterway is open late June to late August on weekends only from 12- 5 on Saturdays and 12-4 on Sunday.
