What I love about this property is that there is always something for multi-generations of families, couples, or groups of friends to do during their visit in every season.
My dad joined me for a father/ daughter adventure in the summer and I’ve previously visited Maumee Bay Lodge with my kids in the winter during a visit to Toledo.

There are several different types of accommodations at Maumee Bay State Park Lodge ranging from the lodge, cabins, and marina.
Do You Need to Make a Deposit for a Reservation at Maumee Bay Lodge?
Yes, all reservations do require an advance deposit by credit card. They accept the following credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, JCB and Diners Club.
The credit card is charged the deposit of the amount of the first night’s stay at the time of booking.
What Time is Check In/ Check Out at Maumee Bay Lodge?
Check-in time for Maumee Bay Lodge is 4 PM and check-out time is 11 AM.
You can enjoy the facilities before your check-in and after your check-out. Just make sure that you stop by the front desk.
If you have friends staying at the Maumee Bay State Park Campground nearby they can purchase a day pass to access the lodge amenities.

A Tour of the Queen Lakeview Room at Maumee Bay Lodge
We stayed in the “2 Queen Lakeview” at Maumee Bay Lodge. Our room had two queen beds and a balcony overlooking the pool and Lake Erie.

Cabins at Maumee Bay Lodge
Check-in time for the cabins is 4:00 PM and check-out time is 10 AM.
Types of Cabins at Maumee Bay Lodge
- Two-bedroom cabins (sleeps up to 6 people)
- Four-bedroom cabins ( sleeps up to 11 people)
- Four-bedroom Deluxe Cabins ( sleeps up to 12 people and includes a private hot tub that seats up to 5 guests )
- Accessible Cabins (two-bedroom or four-bedroom option)
Pet-friendly Accommodations
Some select cabins onsite at Maumee Bay Lodge and Conference Center are pet-friendly for cats or dogs. A pet cleaning fee is included in the rate with a max of 2 pets per cabin.
Reunion Cabin at Maumee Bay Lodge
*A two-night minimum stay is required.
The Reunion Cabin is a great option for families who want to stay together under one roof.
The cabin sleeps up to 18 people and has 4 bedrooms with flat-screen televisions and private bathrooms, a loft that sleeps up to six with two sets of bunk beds with a twin bed over a full bed.
There is a commercial kitchen, a private walkout, and a fire pit.
Marina Slips at Maumee Bay Lodge
Check-in for the marina slips is at 1 PM and check-out is at 12 PM.
Maumee Bay Lodge has 32 boat slips and 24 of those are overnight reservation slips with water and electricity.
The boat slips can accommodate boats up to 15′ wide by 50′ long and all overnight guests receive access to all of the lodge amenities.
*There is no fuel or launch service at the marina.
Special Events at the Maumee Bay Conference Center
The Maumee Bay Conference Center has 7000 square feet of space between 8 function rooms that can be rented out for meeting rooms for special events, retreats, family reunions, or business meetings.
The Grand Ballroom for the Conference Center is 5,000 square feet of space and can hold up to 400 people.
For guests looking for an outdoor venue, there is a 2,000-seat amphitheater that can be used for special events and concerts.
Dining at Maumee Bay Lodge and Conference Center
There are three restaurants where guests can enjoy a meal or a snack while at the property.
Alcohol isn’t permitted in public areas of any Ohio State Park but the exception is Lodge restaurants and Lounges where you can most likely find a favorite drink.
Water’s Edge Restaurant
The Water’s Edge Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Guests can also enjoy a beautiful view of Lake Erie while dining.
The breakfast buffet is served daily and there is also a kids menu.
Ice Breaker Lounge
The Ice Breaker Lounge is open during the evenings starting at 5PM Monday-Friday and noon on Saturdays and Sundays.
The nautical-themed lounge features a cocktail menu with spirits from Toledo Spirits Company and a classic pizza menu.
Bayside Snack Shop
This snack bar is great if you want a casual meal/ quick bite to eat on the go.
Guests will find burgers, fries, drinks, and a variety of frozen treats to choose from.
The outdoor fire pits can be rented out for special occasions and events.
Enjoy Beautiful Views of Lake Erie
One of the best things about staying at Maumee Lodge is the proximity to Lake Erie and the outdoor recreation at the state park.
Guests of Maumee Bay Lodge get the perks of staying at a beach hotel with additional amenities.
During your visit try to enjoy one of the gorgeous sunsets over Lake Erie.
There are a lot of great spots to watch the sunset along the breakwall if you prefer to stay close to the lodge.
Plenty of Areas in Maumee Bay Lodge to Relax or Gather
I love that Maumee Bay Lodge has plenty of seating for guests to sit and relax throughout the property.
There are areas with groupings of couches for friends or families to gather within the Lodge’s common spaces.
The spacious lobby areas feel cozier and inviting with multiple fireplaces.
Outdoor Pool at Maumee Bay Lodge
There is a large outdoor pool with lounge chairs around the perimeter.
Indoor Pool at Maumee Bay Lodge
The indoor pool is surrounded by large windows and skylights that allow a lot of natural light in.
If you prefer warmer water there are two hot tubs within a few steps of the indoor pool.
Younger kids will also enjoy the kids’ splash pad near the sailboat mural by the indoor pool.
Game Area at Maumee Bay Lodge
The Game Room is located across from the indoor pool with arcade-style games. There is also a ping-pong table.
Soft Play Area for Younger Kids
Families with children of various ages will appreciate that the indoor recreational activities are all within a few feet of each other.
The soft play area is designated for younger-aged children and is across the hallway from the indoor pool.
Parents will also appreciate the large window openings to the play area that allow them to watch their kids while also giving the kids more independence and room to play.
The open wall by the play area entrance also makes observing the play area easy from multiple sides.

The Gift Shop at Maumee Bay Lodge is in the lobby stocked with souvenirs, snacks, apparel, personal care items, swimwear, toys, and more.
If the gift shop is closed during your visit you can ask a staff member at the front desk to open it for you.

Swimming is permitted at the designated areas of the beach.

Maumee Bay Inland Lake
The 57-acre inland lake has a large sandy beach where guests can swim. There are also canoes and paddle boats available for rent.
Maumee Bay Hiking Trails at Maumee Bay State Park
There are three hiking trails, including a two-mile interpretive boardwalk and two multi-use trails.
*Please note a portion of the boardwalk trail is currently closed for repairs due to a June 2023 storm. Check with the front desk of the Nature Center for the reopening date.
Storybook Trail
Younger guests will enjoy reading the signs along the Storybook Trail. The 0.3-mile trail is an easy hike on a flat, mowed path.
Trautman Nature Center at Maumee Bay State Park
Park Rd 3, Oregon, OH
The Trautman Nature Center is a great place to learn more about the local wildlife and ecology in the area.
There are multiple hands-on exhibits for guests throughout the Nature Center.
Look for the lighthouse lens on display in the Nature Center.
There is a nice seating area for guests to watch birds from the comfort of the indoors.
If you want to continue your bird-watching adventure, a Lake Erie Birding Trail goes through the Western Lake Erie Marshes Loop.
Bird watchers can be on the lookout for migratory birds along with bald eagles, swans, egrets, and great blue herons in the area.
Bike Path/ Paved Walking Trails
My dad and I had a blast with our e-bikes on the paved trails, and we even took them off-road on one of the trails.
Two multi-use trails are three and six miles long and a five-mile asphalt trail to explore.
If you don’t have a bike there are bike rentals available seasonally.
Maumee Bay Golf Course at Maumee Bay State Park
(Open from April 1- October 31, weather permitting)
The 18-hole, par 72-course golf course was designed by Arthur Hills to challenge golfers of all skill levels while enjoying the natural beauty in the area.
Be on the lookout for hole #14. It’s known as the most challenging hole on the course.
There is also a full-service practice facility, and rentals for a pull cart, golf cart, and golf clubs available.

Winter Recreation at Maumee Bay State Park
There are still plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy during the wintertime at Maumee Bay State Park.
Weather and snow conditions permitting, park guests can go cross-country skiing on the Mouse Trail, ice skating, take a winter nature hike, or sledding on the area’s famous 70-foot sledding hill.
