I’ll be honest and admit that I really didn’t know what to expect for my first visit to Erie, PA.
I knew that Erie was by the water, but I had no idea how much beauty the area had to offer including beautiful beaches.
During my visit to Erie, we spent the afternoon enjoying nature at Presque Isle State Park.
Presque Isle State Park offers 3200 acres of outdoor adventure along with a sandy peninsula seashore.
Kayak Trip to Misery Bay
We began our adventure at Presque Isle State Park with a kayak trip on Misery Bay with rentals from The Presque Isle Canoe and Boat Livery.
During our kayak trip, we observed wildlife, floating houses, and another perspective of the Perry Monument from Misery Bay.
My favorite part of our kayak trip was being able to get up close to the turtles sunbathing on a log.
The baby turtles were absolutely adorable!
After our kayak trip, we drove to Beach #7 (Waterworks Beach) at Presque Isle which really blew me away.
Pick Your Favorite Beach
There are 11 beaches on Presque Isle that each varies with amenities and parking.
I assumed that any view would be nice because we were by the water, but I didn’t realize that these types of amazing views were available in northwestern Pennsylvania!
There is a reason why this state park welcomes over 4 million visitors each year!
Our time at beach #7 was shorter than I would have liked, but it made an unforgettable impression on me!
If you are ever in Erie, I highly recommend making a stop at Presque Isle State Park!
