I love any excuse to visit the Red River Gorge in Eastern Kentucky. When our family was invited to stay at Cliffview Resort near Red River Gorge it was a no-brainer.
My previous experience at Cliffview Resort was from a stay at the lodge 20+ years during our first year of marriage. I was excited to see what had changed and to also bring our boys with us this time.
One of the first things that you will notice about the property is that you truly feel like you get away…but in the best kind of way.
Cliffview Resort is conveniently located near other area attractions including Natural Bridge State Park and Red River Gorge.
What I love about a visit to the Gorge is just how it helps us slow down and connect with nature.
We were off to a good start when we noticed this mama deer and her baby a few times on our drive back to Cliff View Lodge.

There is one King Suite with a king-size bed and a queen-sized futon.
I loved spending time on the porch swing of the giant back deck outside of my room.
It was so peaceful to look out at the nature around me while enjoying my coffee before everyone else in my family woke up.
It was also really nice to slow down and just sit on the swings and talk with views of the moon.

Go Fishing Onsite
Fishing is something that is talked about often in our family but for whatever reason, we don’t do it very often.
Cliffview Resort took away all the excuses.
We had nothing but time…. and nowhere that we had to go allowing us to slow down and enjoy the simple things.
The fishing at Cliffview Resort is catch and release and the resort has fishing poles for guests to use along with the live bait.
You also don’t need a fishing license if you are only fishing on the property.
The boys loved it. In fact, they went fishing several times during our stay which was really nice.
Play Games Together
Cliffview Resort has outdoor and indoor games available for guests to use during their stay.
We enjoyed challenging each other to a few games of cornhole and ladder ball.
You’ll also find an assortment of board games and DVDs for guests to use.
There are plenty of tables near the kitchen and on the porch, if you want to gather with your group to play cards or make some new friends.
Sit by the Campfire

Zipline Across The Gorge that you can see from The Lodge at Cliffview Resort.
Red River Gorge Zipline is located on property at Cliffview Resort which means that you don’t have to travel far for an awesome adventure.
There is no age limit to zipline but you must weigh between 70 and 250 lbs.
The course takes you on 5 zip lines through Red River Gorge and it’s recommended that you make reservations in advance if you have a specific day and time in mind.
We were scheduled to zipline on the last day of our visit but a storm blew in that delayed our tour.
We are definitely looking forward to coming back at another time to cross that adventure off our list.

Where to swim at Cliffview Resort
Cliffview Resort does not have a swimming pool but they do have a pond on-site that you can swim in.
A word of caution if you are fishing, make sure that you check your pockets before you sit down…..my son and husband ended up swimming in search of something that fell out of his pocket.
They didn’t find it, but they did find several cell phones from previous guests in the water.
