The Lakeside Oasis
(On Rocky Fork Lake)
The Lakeside Oasis is a great option for your next getaway with family or friends.
It sleeps 12 people with 3 bedrooms, 6 beds, and 3 baths and has several indoor and outdoor areas for entertaining.
Bedroom 1 has a king-sized bed. The full-sized bath with a shower/tub is only a few steps away.
Bedroom 2 has a queen-sized bed and an attached bathroom with a shower.
Bedroom 3 has two bunk beds with full-sized beds on the bottom and twin-sized beds on the top. There is also a futon and games in storage for kids to discover.
Bedroom 3 has the largest bathroom with a double sink and shower.
The kitchen has all the basics including cookware, dishes, a drip coffee maker, and a Keurig coffee maker. I appreciated that drawers had small labels to help us navigate the kitchen.
We were also greeted with treats from a local business and a binder about the property with detailed pictures of the appliances and information on the area.
The outdoor patio has a great space to enjoy during the day or at night.
Backyard chefs will enjoy cooking in the outdoor kitchen.
The gas grill, mini fridge, and sink in the outdoor kitchen with a covered bar help make meal prep fun and social.
In the evening, guests can turn on the string lights and enjoy relaxing around the fire ring.
The hot tub is another year-round perk with this vacation rental. A washer and dryer is available if you need to wash or dry clothes during your visit.
I was most surprised to discover the bonus of an outdoor shower next to the 4 person Finlandia cedar dry sauna.
The screened-in room is another great space for playing games or cards.
Kids and adults will enjoy friendly competition in the game room.
You can walk down the wooded trail to the lakeside dock or take the 4-person golf cart.

You can sleep at a rural farmhouse in southeast Ohio.
This bed and breakfast has plenty of space for everyone to spread out.
There are 4 four bedrooms, a full kitchen, 2 full baths, a large deck, wrap-around porch, fish and release pond.
The outside has a nice fire pit area with plenty of wood nearby for guests to enjoy a bonfire at night.
Each bedroom has thoughtful quotes and displays of memories from 6 generations of Jeff and Kim Hauke and their family.
The two bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs made it easy for all of us to get ready in the morning.
We arrived at the bed and breakfast after dark and enjoyed seeing the adorable cows and scenic views in the morning.
Fishing poles are available if guests want to try catch-and-release fishing during their stay.
The porch swings and rocking chairs on the wrap-around porch made my morning very relaxing.
Our group was on the go for breakfast out, but I appreciated the stocked fridge with drinks and snacks for us to enjoy during our stay.
There also was a Highland County-opoly game for guests to play featuring several places we visited during our trip.
The bed and breakfast is a short drive to area restaurants and shopping in Hillsboro.
Woodhaven Farm Bed and Breakfast

If you’re looking for a bed and breakfast that feels like a country retreat, you’ll want to check out Woodhaven Farm Bed and Breakfast.
The bed and breakfast is on a private 40-acre farm, where you can “choose your own adventure.”
Relax and read a book, bird watch, hike the trails, or learn about farm life from the owners.
The Rose Room is located on the first floor featuring a queen-size bed, private in-room bath with a step-in shower, comfy recliner, a rocker, and its own covered porch with at-door parking.
In the morning, you can enjoy a farm-fresh breakfast without the cooking or cleanup.
The eggs for breakfast are locally sourced at their chicken coup within a few steps of their front door.
You can meet the chickens who helped contribute to your breakfast.
As a city slicker, I love learning more about where my food comes from and the farming process from the owners.
