Snowshoe Trek to Lake Erie from Sawmill Creek Resort

During our visit to the Sandusky area, we had perfect weather for a snowcation. The snow was falling down slowly and it felt like we were walking around inside a snow globe.

We got our snowshoe rentals at Mulligan’s Pub located on the Sawmill Creek Resort grounds and were on our way.

They also offer ice skates for rent too for pond skating. Sawmill Creek Resort is located on 235 acres which includes a lakefront beach on it’s property next to Sheldon Marsh Reserve.

A group of us set out to get some shots of Lake Erie on a snowshoe trek led by Ryan and Chad Whaley from Green door media works.

We received a lot of snow the evening before and which was perfect for our snowshoe adventure.

Our snowshoe trek started at the golf course and then led us on a trail at Sheldon Marsh Nature Preserve.

The trail definitely looked different than my last visit there.

The trail opened up to a small beach area that was covered in snow which became our new frozen playground.

It’s very surreal to be walking on 98% frozen Lake Erie.

When you get a bunch of travel writers together, there will be MANY stops for pictures and fun photo opps.

Shalee from Shalee Wanders had to get a yoga pose in on the break wall that rests against Lake Erie.

She was also daring enough to do a round off back hand spring on the ice!

Ryan even got in on the action with a yoga pose in the distance.

Chad gave us a fun jumping off pic from the break wall with his fun purple snowshoes.

Snowshoe and ice skate rentals are also available to the public who are not guest of the resort.

A snowshoe trek is a great adventure that you can take solo, with friends, family or as a date.

You can learn more about the amenities at Sawmill Creek Resort from their website.

Sawmill Creek Resort is located at 400 Sawmill Creek Dr., Huron/Sandusky, OH 44839.

Disclosure: Lake Erie Shores and Islands provided my accommodation, meals and admissions for my participation in their media trip. All opinions are my own.
