If you’re visiting Vermont for the first time, you may feel overwhelmed when planning where to go, what to do, and where to stay.
We stayed 4 nights in Ludlow, Vermont, and used it as a base for mini-road trips around the state.
I’m sharing more about our experience at The Mill, a condo vacation rental in Ludlow, Vermont.
Where is Ludlow, VT Located?
Ludlow, Vermont, is located in southern Vermont at the intersection of Routes 103 and 100, which run from the north and south.
The area is also home to Okemo Mountain Resort, a popular ski resort for families.

A Vacation Rental With History at The Mill
The building where the condo is housed was formerly a woolen mill that dates back to around 1865. It previously produced 150,000 yards of wool cloth annually.
Overnight guests can admire the beauty of the original brickwork and exposed beams that add character to contrast to the modern updates and conveniences.
Accommodations at the Condo Vacation Rental at The Mill
Our vacation condo at The Mill in downtown Ludlow accommodated up to 8 guests. It had 3 bedrooms, 5 beds, and 2 baths.
We stayed at the condo with another couple for our first visit to Vermont.
The self-check-in at the condo and the location in downtown Ludlow were very convenient.
We walked to local restaurants and shops from our vacation rental. I highly recommend making a reservation if you’re dining out because dining options and seating are more limited.
The condo’s building has free parking in the building’s lot and parking is also available on the street.
If you visit during the ski season, the vacation rental is on the Okemo shuttle route to the ski resort.
Kitchen Amenities
You’ll find all the basics in the kitchen in the rental for preparing a meal including pots, pans, and dishware.
If you want to prepare meals during your stay there is a full-sized refrigerator with a freezer, microwave, stove, toaster, and the dishwasher makes it easy to clean up afterward.
We only made coffee and one dinner in the kitchen because we spent the majority of our time out exploring the area.
Dining Area
The dining area for the vacation rental seats up to six people.
I also used this table at night to research our next day’s adventures on my computer.
The rental has fast WIFI at 450 Mbps which is nice if you need to do some online work during your visit.
Living Area
The living area has two couches, board games, two oversized chairs, a working fireplace, and a TV.
The mantle has specific instructions posted if you choose to use the fireplace during your stay.
If you need to do laundry during your stay a paid washer and dryer are available onsite.
Bedroom 1
This bedroom has one bunk bed with ladder access to the top bunk.
This room is perfect for families traveling with kids.
Bedroom 2
This bedroom has one queen-sized bed.
Our friends stayed in this room during our stay. It also had a closet and a small sofa.
Bedroom 3
This bedroom has two queen-sized beds. My husband and I stayed in this room during our stay.
We had a dresser in our room but used the other bed to organize our clothes.
Bathroom 1
This bathroom is in the hallway across from bedroom two and a few steps from bedroom one.
There is a tub/shower combo in this bathroom and shampoo, conditioner, and soap are provided in the rental.
Bathroom 2
The shower in this bathroom was very nice with a large overhead spout and an additional hand sprayer.
The bathroom attached to bedroom 3 was spacious with a double sink and mirrors.
Intentional Details at the Vacation Rental
The hallway and each bedroom had hooks on the wall for guests to use during their stay. Each bedroom also had fans which were appreciated.
I also noticed the full-length mirror in our bedroom and additional mirror in the hallway which many vacation rentals overlook including for their guests.
Scenic Views By The Mill
The vacation rental has a back deck that overlooks the scenic Black River.
The back deck has been temporarily closed due to repairs from catastrophic major flooding in the town in mid-July 2023.
The repairs are in process and you’ll want to check on the process to see if the back deck is currently accessible.
